    ENTRANCE ANTIPHON RM

Let us all rejoice in the Lord, for our Savior has been born in the world. Today true peace has come down to us from heaven.

O COME, ALL YE FAITHFUL Text: John F. Wade, ca. 1711-1786; tr. by Frederick Oakeley, 1802-1880; Music: ADESTE FIDELES; John F. Wade; arr. fr. English Hymnal, 1906

O come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant, O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem. Come and behold Him, born the King of angels.

O come let us adore Him; O come let us adore Him. O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!

Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation, sing, all ye citizens of heaven above. “Glory to God, all glory in the highest.”

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning. Jesus, to Thee be all glory given. Word of the Father now in flesh appearing.

Adeste fideles. Laeti triumphantes. Venite, venite in Bethlehem. Natum videte, regem angelorum.

Venite adoramus, venite adoramus. Venite adoramus, Dominum!

    Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, You take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

You are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For You alone are the Holy One, You alone are the Lord, You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the Glory of God the Father. Amen.

  • CREED

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; Through Him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation He came down from heaven, (at the words that follow up to and including and became man, all bow) And by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate, He suffered death and was buried, And rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and His kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, Who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

ANGELS WE HAVE HEARD ON HIGH Text: trad. French Carol, ca. 18th cent.; tr. fr. Crown of Jesus Music, II, London, 1862; tr. by James Chadwick, 1813-1882, and others; Music: GLORIA; trad. French Carol

Angels we have heard on high sweetly singing o’er the plains, And the mountains in reply echoing their joyous strains.

Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo!

Shepherds, why this jubilee? Why your joyous strains prolong? Say what may the tidings be, which inspire your heavenly song?

Come to Bethlehem and see Him whose birth the angels sing; Come adore on bended knee, Christ the Lord, the newborn King.

See Him in a manger laid, whom the choirs of angels praise. Mary, Joseph, lend your aid while our hearts in love we raise.

O HOLY NIGHT Adolphe Charles Adam, John Sullivan Dwight, Placide Cappeau, Public Domain

O holy night, the stars are brightly shining. It is the night of our dear Savior's birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pining, ‘til He appeared and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices, for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees. Oh, hear the angel voices! O night divine, O night when Christ was born! O night divine! O night, O night divine! Led by the light of faith serenely beaming, with glowing hearts, by His cradle we stand. So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming, here come the wise men from Orient land. The King of Kings lay thus in lowly manger, in all our trials, born to be our friend. He knows our need, to our weakness is no stranger. Behold your King! Before Him lowly bend. Behold your King! Behold your King! Truly He taught us to love one another; His law is love and His gospel is peace. Chains shall He break, for the slave is our brother, and in His name all oppression shall cease. Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we, let all within us praise His holy name. Christ is the Lord, O praise His name forever; His power and glory evermore proclaim! His power and glory evermore proclaim!

JOY TO THE WORLD Text: based on Psalm 98: 4-9; Isaac Watts, 1674-1748; Music: ANTIOCH; T. Hawkes’ Collection of Tunes, 1833; George Frideric Handel, 1685-1759; adapt. and arr. by Lowell Mason, 1792-1872

Joy to the world! The Lord is come: let earth receive her King. Let every heart prepare Him room. And heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing, and heaven, and heaven and nature sing.

Joy to the earth! The Savior reigns! Let men their songs employ; while fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains, Repeat the sounding joy, repeat the sounding joy, repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

He rules the world with truth and grace, and makes the nations prove the glories of His righteousness, And wonders of His love, and wonders of His love, and wonders, wonders of His love.

Joy to the world! The Lord is come; Let earth receive her King; Let earth receive her King!

In the bleak mid-winter all creation groans For a world in darkness, frozen like a stone.

Light is breaking in a stable for a throne.

And He shall reign forevermore, forevermore. And He shall reign forevermore, forevermore.

Unto us a Child is born, the King of kings And Lord of lords.

And He shall reign forevermore, forevermore.

If I were a wise man, I would travel far. If I were a shepherd, I would do my part.

But, poor as I am, I will give to Him my heart.

Here within a manger lies The One who made the starry skies,

This baby born for sacrifice: Christ, the Messiah! Into our hopes, into our fears

The Savior of the world appears, The promise of eternal years: Christ, the Messiah!

S ILENT NIGHT (EMMANUEL) Text: Joseph Mohr, 1792-1849; tr. by John F. Young, 1820-1885; Music: STILLE NACHT; Franz X.

    Gruber, 1787-1863; Bridge by Matt Maher © 2008 worshiptogether.com songs CCLI Song # 5319138

Silent night, holy night, all is calm all is bright. Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child.

Holy Infant so tender and mild, Sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night, shepherds quake at the sight. Glories stream from heaven afar. Heavenly hosts sing,

“Alleluia! Christ, the Savior is born! Christ, the Savior is born!”

O come, O come Emmanuel, And ransom captive hearts that fell.

Bring peace on earth and love’s goodwill to everyone. For You so loved the world You gave

Your life for us to heal and save. We see the echoes of Your grace for everyone.

Silent night, holy night, Son of God, Love's pure light. Radiant beams from Thy holy face, With the dawn of redeeming grace.

Jesus, Lord at Thy birth. Jesus, Lord at Thy birth. Jesus, Lord at Thy birth.

    * Mass livestreamed on YouTube channel

Through December 25, we are joining in a Respect Life Prayer December 25—Week 38 of Nine Months with Christ With tears of joy on her face, Mary beholds her child for the first time today. Light for all the world is brightening their little stable. Joseph is silent in wonder at the sight of his perfect adopted son. Shepherds will not arrive for another hour, so this first quiet moment of happiness is reserved just for the holy family… and a few barn animals. Jesus meets the world with his eyes open, a little king ready to continue his sacred journey through life. Jesus, Light of the World. Hear our prayers!
