Welcome to Mackrell.Solicitors

Mackrell.Solicitors is an award-winning, full service London law firm, with a truly global reach.

Headquartered in central London, we have been providing high quality legal advice and services since 1845.

As a firm, our philosophy is to make your life easier. Providing clear, practical solutions through an otherwise complex web of legal jargon, our ability to make legal advice accessible has resulted in us maintaining an impressively high retention rate amongst our clients.

Despite significant growth in recent years we remain personal enough to provide the tailored service clients look for and every case is supervised by one of our Partners, working closely with our team at all levels throughout. We are also large enough to offer comprehensive and practical expertise so our clients are able to use our firm to deal with all of their legal needs, no matter what the scale or complexity may be.

Being a full service firm also allows us to easily refer work between departments – avoiding outsourcing of parts of a client’s legal requirements saves the client both time and money; something we are able to provide both domestically and internationally through our international association Mackrell International.

We are founders of Mackrell International, a world leading global network of approximately 4,500 lawyers across 60 countries, enabling us to offer the added value of immediate international legal advice and assistance in any jurisdiction worldwide. We are a worldwide web of lawyers, with local knowledge.

Our expertise is also widely recognised within our profession, in the UK and further afield. We have been named in the Business Development Innovation category at the Legal Week Innovation Awards 2019 and we have recently been shortlisted at a number of other national awards.

Mackrell.Solicitors – an innovative, traditional, local and truly global firm, in one.

Like us, most Mackrell International members are in the top 10% of their country’s law firms with a proven track-record. They also have experience of working with all sizes and types of business from the world’s largest multinationals and public sector organisations to owner managed business, entrepreneurs and private clients.

Confidence and trust is important and we know our global counter-parts well through working with them and networking at our conferences. MI’s active Practice Groups provide an opportunity for us to learn and share sector expertise.

We are able to provide immediate global influence and local expertise.

Mackrell International member firms have offices in Algeria, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland (Republic Of), Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States Of America, Venezuela, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.

How does it work?

You appoint us to work on your global project and we do the rest. We source the right lawyers from the network; introduce them to you and co-ordinate the delivery of MI’s global services. International arbitration is an increasingly important part of resolving complex cross border disputes.

It is really a crucial tool for managing business relationships from their inception. This is its great advantage over litigation. International arbitration is particularly popular amongst international, influential and high net worth business people as a way of resolving disputes, many of whom are active in sectors such as oil, gas and other natural resources, as well as financial services, construction and investment The relative ease with which arbitral awards can be enforced abroad, together with the confidential nature of proceedings, has led to arbitration becoming an increasingly popular option for our clients.

Following pioneering campaigns from families of patients and doctors, there has been a significant change to UK legislation in regards to cannabis, which have now made it legal to produce and prescribe products derived from the drug. This has opened up a significant new marketplace for cannabis in the UK, one which pharmaceutical businesses and the limited number of companies licensed to cultivate the drug for medical use in Britain, are looking to exploit.

But as with any industry, they need the support of an experienced legal team as they face a quickly evolving, complex set of regulatory and commercial challenges. Mackrell.Solicitors is at the heart of this revolutionary change and is able to provide advice and support to the growing number of companies looking to enter this sector. The depth of its knowledge that it has access to in this industry is without comparison, thanks to its ability to call on the knowledge and experience of other legal professionals in places like the United States and Canada, where cannabis has been legalised, through its position as a founding member of the Mackrell International global legal network. As with any emerging market, investors and businesses prioritise credibility and connectivity above value, which is why our pool of global expertise puts Mackrell.Solicitors ahead of the curve as the commercial market evolves in the UK.

With attitudes to cannabis changing around the world, the future may hold many more opportunities for UK businesses.
