• Stories that the audience want to hear: The audience want to hear stories that are local so they are informed of what is happening in their local area.

• Also you might have a different target audience that want to hear different types of stories. For example, a young target audience with the age range of 13-26 may want to hear entertaining news, such as celebrity news or what fun opportunities are going on in their area.

REMEMBER THE 5 W'S AND H

Who? What? Where? When? Why? (How?)

It is vital to realise the importance of informing your audience, so that you are giving the audience correct information.

KEEP IT IMPARTIAL

It is important when writing a story, you must not be bias but impartial.

Good journalism means respecting people and making sure you ask permission of the people you are writing a story about, this makes sure that no one feels disrespected.

For example, when writing a story about upcoming elections, a good journalist would give provide information of all the different parties so that the people reading are able to make their own choice.

Yes, we have a freedom of speech, but as a journalist it is crucial to respect others.

WHAT ELSE TO CONSIDER? Consider news story to be about people and how people are affected. In

stories it is important to include how individuals are personally affected. Give quotes: quoting people gives a perspective of how other people feel. Make stories short and simple, stories that are too long may make the

audience bored and wouldn't want to tune it. The audience want short and quick news so that they have the necessary information instead of lengthy news story that seem unnecessary.
