How to Use Dropbox

What is Dropbox?

A folder in computer that synchronizes files online

and computers.

All files are available from any computer…

that has internet connection

Any updates made on files in Dropbox…

will automatically update files on your other

computers.

Dropbox works on Windows, Mac, Linux

You’ll find icons on all files and folders…

within Dropbox

Green icon means file in Dropbox are up to date

Blue icon mean file is currently being transferred to Dropbox

Red icon means file couldn’t be transferred

Icons on Dropboxtray/menu bar

Green icon means files in Dropbox are updated

Blue icon means Dropbox is currently transferring files

Red icon means Dropbox is unable to sync files

Now let’s start

To Create an Account

Go to

www.dropbox.com

Click download Dropbox

Wait for Dropbox to download

When download complete, run DropboxInstaller

Click Run

Click Install to start installing

Wait to finish installing

After installing, Dropbox Setup appears

Fill up boxes and sign in if you have an account

If you have no account click Sign up

Fill up the boxes with your information

Fill up boxes

Check “I agree”

Then click Sign up

Dropbox now installed in your Documents

After signing in, this appears

Free accounts come with 2GB space

Check out account settings to see space used

Click Get Started for Dropbox info

Click Files to show your files

1. To Share a File/Folder

Shared file/folder allows group to collaborate on

same files.

Only Shared file members can access the shared

files

Now go to www.dropbox.com

Sign in to your account

Share a File

Choose file to be shared

Right Click and choose “Share link”

This box appears

Type email address of invites

Type your message

Click Send

Can Share your file link to Facebook

Can Share file link to Twitter

Share a Folder

Click Share a Folder icon

Right click and choose “Share a Folder”

Choose share an existing folder

Click Next

Choose folder you want to share

Click Next

Type email address of people you want to invite

Type your message to people invited

Check if you’ll allow members to invite others

Click “Share Folder”

Folder is now shared

2. To Create a New Folder for Sharing

Choose New Folder icon

Click Folder’s dropdown menu

Click “Share Folder”

Choose share New Folder

Click Next

Enter name of new folder

Click Next

Type email address of people you want to invite

Type message to invites

Check if you allow members to invite others

Click Share Folder

3. To Upload a file

Click Files

Click Upload

Click and Choose files from computer for upload

Select file to be uploaded

Click open

File starting to Upload

Wait to finish uploading

Click Done

Files are now in your Dropbox

OR

Choose file to be uploaded

Drag and drop file in your Dropbox

Uploaded file is now in Dropbox

File is available from your other computers and the

web.

Any changes on file will sync up automatically

with Dropbox.

4. To Create New Folder

for Files

Click New Folder

Choose New Folder

Type a filename

Filename written

A New Folder is created

Choose file you want to place in folder

Click and drag File to the Folder

File is now in the Folder

5. Can access Dropbox from a web

Web interface can be used anywhere…

without installing the extra software

Just visit and choose a browser

Go to

www.dropbox.com

Then Log-in

You can now access files from Dropbox account
