SETTING UP YOUR AFFILIATE PROGRAM

PURPOSE: This manual will show you how to set up and manage your affiliate program(s) inDelavo™.

Prerequisite: Delavo™ installed on your server.

There are several components needed in order to make an affiliate program functional inDelavo™. In order to allow your affiliates to promote your products, these two (2) conditionsmust exist:

They must belong to an Affiliate Group that can promote the Product.The Product must be attached to a Package that can be promoted by the Affiliate Group.

As a Delavo™ owner, you can create an unlimited number of Affiliate Groups, Packages andProducts. In turn, a user can be assigned multiple Affiliate Groups. Similarly, a Package canbe promoted through multiple Affiliate Groups, with each group having a different commissionstructure.

The logic is illustrated in this example.

You have created Product A which is attached to Package A.

You have 2 Affiliate Groups, both of which are attached to Package A:1. “ALL” group with no commission defined in the Affiliate Program interface but

the affiliate group is auto-assigned to all new members.2. “Special” group with 75% commission defined in the Affiliate Program interface.

Neither the "autoassign" nor the "Needs approval" check boxes are marked.

You have set a commission level of 50% within Product A's record.

There are two affiliates promoting Package A:1. Affiliate X belongs to the “ALL” affiliate group as the "ALL" affiliate group is auto

assigned to all new members. This affiliate does not belong to the Specialaffiliates group.

2. Affiliate Y belongs to the “ALL” and “Special” affiliates group; the "ALL" affiliategroup being auto assigned and the "Special" affiliate group obtained through aproduct or invitation.

When Affiliate X makes a sale, s/he will receive 50% commission obtained through theProduct record since the “ALL” group has no commission defined through the AffiliateProgram.

However, if Affiliate Y makes a sale, s/he will receive 75% commission instead of 50%commission. This affiliate will receive the higher commission because s/he belongs tothe “Special” affiliate group which has 75% commissions defined in the "Special


commission" affiliate group interface. PLEASE NOTE: The higher commission willalways take precedence.

So first of all, you will need to set up an affiliate group (program). You may want to autoassign an affiliate group to anyone that joins your Delavo™ system. If you want onlycustomers of the Product to promote the Package, you can attach an exclusive affiliate groupto the Product so that only those who purchase your product will be able to promote it.

You could also attach an affiliate group to an invitation and invite affiliates to join your affiliateprogram.

PLEASE NOTE: Invite WILL ONLY WORK the first time that an email address is entered intoyour Delavo™ system. If the user previously entered an email address, s/he CANNOT beinvited using the Invite feature. Delavo™ will not allow it. So, there is no need to invite a userthat has ALREADY created an account with the system because s/he would need to use aDIFFERENT email address, and thus create ANOTHER account in the system.

Affiliate groups (programs) can be attached to Packages and Products, but the purpose ofattaching is different. By attaching an affiliate group to a Package, the Package becomesavailable for promotion through the attached affiliate program. When an affiliate group isattached to a Product as a delivery, the buyer of the Product will become a participant of theattached affiliate program(s). If the affiliate group is auto assigned to everyone, then anyonecan promote all Packages that are connected to that affiliate group.

You may wish to grant certain affiliates a higher commission (e.g. JV partners). You can dothis by creating a Special Affiliate Group (that is not auto-assigned) and deliver this Affiliate Group using any of these three (3) ways:

1. You can attach this affiliate group to an invitation and then invite your affiliates to jointhis higher commissioned group. Keep in mind that the affiliates need to use an emailaddress which has not been previously used in your Delavo™ system.

2. You could set up a $0 Product and have your preferred affiliates "purchase" theproduct with the attached affiliate group. PLEASE NOTE: This is the recommendedway of delivering an affiliate group.

3. Or, you may edit individual user records and attach the Affiliate Group to his/heraccount.

In addition, this manual will show you how to pay your affiliates, how to test the delivery ofyour affiliate program, how to test that your affiliate program is crediting the correctcommissions using Paypal as the payment processor and how to simulate a purchase madethrough an affiliate link without going through a payment processor.


CREATING AN AFFILIATE GROUP

In this chapter, we will show you how to set up an affiliate group. An affiliate group is just away of creating different affiliate programs according to your needs. Although you can createan unlimited number of affiliate groups, it is suggested that you create only as many as youneed. This chapter will show you how to create an affiliate group for all of your users, affiliatesas well as customers. We will also show you how to create an affiliate group for affiliatesonly.

Affiliate groups (programs) can be attached to Packages and Products. When an affiliategroup is attached to a Package, that Package becomes available for promotion through theattached affiliate program. When an affiliate group is attached to a Product, the buyer of theProduct will automatically become a participant of the affiliate program that is attached. But,that affiliate group must also be attached to one or more Packages before that customer isable to promote any Package(s).

If an affiliate group is auto assigned, then all users in your Delavo™ system can promote anyPackage that this affiliate group is attached to. But if an affiliate group is assigned to specificusers, only these users will be able to promote the Package that this affiliate group isattached to.

CREATING AN AFFILIATE GROUP FOR ALL USERS

PLEASE NOTE: This affiliate program will have been created for you if you are a Delavo™owner.


Purpose: Allows affiliates to promote your products.

Log into your Delavo™ account.

Hover your cursor over the "Mode" icon. A box will appear telling you what Mode you are in.In order to create an Affiliate group you need to be in the "MASTER's" area. If you are in the"MEMBER's" area, click on the "Mode" icon to go to the "MASTER's" area.


Click on "Affiliates" in the top menu bar, then on "Groups" in the dropdown menu.

The "Affiliate programs" interface will display.

Click on the "Add new" button to add an affiliate group (program).

Title - Name your affiliate program something like "ALL" as you will assign this affiliateprogram to all of your affiliates.

Tiers - Do not enter anything here as you will set the affiliate commission in the Productrecord at Store/Products. This area will be discussed later in this chapter.


Autoassign to new members - Check the "Autoassign to new members" box toautomatically assign this affiliate program to all new members.

Needs approval – Do not check this box a you want this affiliate program to be assigned toall new users in your Dellavo™ system.

Autoresponders - If you would like to add a third party autoresponder such as Aweber, GetResponse or TurboResponders, click the "add new" link next to "Autoresponders" to add theemail address of the autoresponder to which data will be sent. Your affiliate's name andemail address will be sent to the autoresponder address you have chosen. You can create a new autoresponder record through the window that opens or choose anexisting autoresponder.

To add a new autoresponder, click on "Add new".


Autoresponder email address - Type in the email address of the autoresponder that youwould like your affiliates name and email addresses added to.

Subject (sent by default: “subscribe me”) - Type in a Subject. PLEASE NOTE: If you areusing Aweber, leave the Subject line blank. If you don't type in a subject, the default subjectwill be "subscribe me".

Admin notes - Add a note to yourself in "Admin notes" if you like.

Save - Click on the "Save" button to save this autoresponder.

Return without changes – Click on the “Return without changes” button to return to theprevious screen without saving your work.

Click on the “Close this window” button to close this window.

You will return to the list of autoresponders.

If you would like to edit this autoresponder, click on the pencil icon. To delete thisautoresponder, click on the X.

To add this autoresponder to your affiliate program, click on the link in the "Autoresponderemail address" column.

To create another autoresponder, click on "Add new" and repeat the above process.

Click on "close this window".


As you can see in the above screenshot, your chosen autoresponder has been added to thisaffiliate program.

Welcome message for new affiliate users - If you would like to send a welcome messageto your new affiliates, click on the "EDIT MESSAGE” button.


A new area will open where you can edit the welcome message.

Type in a subject for your welcome email. Type in your welcome message. Click on “the listof additional tags” link for a list of tags that can be used in this message.

Allow 100% commission for affiliate – Tick this box if you would like to instantly pay youraffiliate 100% commissions. PLEASE NOTE: If you tick this box, make sure that you attachthis affiliate program ONLY to Packages where you want your affiliate to earn 100%commissions. It is NOT a good idea to autoassign any affiliate program that grants 100%commissions.

Click on "Save" to save your work.

You have now added an affiliate group (program) that will be auto assigned to all members.

If you would like to edit this affiliate program, click on the pencil icon. If you would like todelete this affiliate program, click on the X.

If you would like to create another affiliate program, click on "Add new".

CREATING AN AFFILIATE GROUP FOR SPECIFIC USERSThere will be times when you want to create an affiliate group for specific affiliates, you maywant ONLY some affiliates to be able to promote a Package, or you may only want peoplewho purchase a specific product to be able to promote it. In these cases, you will need tocreate an affiliate group just for these users.

Prerequisite: Delavo™ installed on your server or access to a hosted Delavo™ account.

Purpose: Allows specific affiliates to promote your products.







Title - Since this affiliate group is for a specific group of users, you could name it somethinglike "JV Partners", “Special Affiliate Program”, or "Product Name Customers" depending onwhat group of users will be assigned this affiliate group. PLEASE NOTE: When naminganything in Delavo™, always choose a short but descriptive name so that in the future youknow exactly what the Product, Package, Affiliate Group, etc. is for.


Tiers – If this Affiliate Program is set up in order to give a specific group of affiliates a highercommission than normal. You will need to set up the higher commission here. Click on the“add one more tier” link.

A new area will open where you can set up your SCAP (Special Commissions Affiliate Group)

Value – Set the value of the commission.Mode – Choose if the value is a percentage (%) or dollar amount ($).Irreducible – Choose if the commission is irreducible. PLEASE NOTE: By checkingthis box, you can pay total commissions that are more than the actual cost of theproduct. For example, you can choose to pay 110% commissions. Please refer to theChapter titled “Commissions” for more information.

If you would like to add additional tiers, click on the “add one more tier” link and repeat theabove procedure.

If this Affiliate Group is for a Customers Only Affiliate Program, you will not want to set up aSCAP. In this case, you will attach ONLY this Customers Only Affiliate Group to both theProduct and Package for the Product you wish only customers to be able to promote.


Autoassign to new members - DO NOT check the "Autoassign to new members" box asyou want this Affiliate Group to be assigned to only specific users.

Needs approval - If you want to approve this affiliate group, check the "Needs approval" box.However, it is best to NOT check this box as you will want to deliver this affiliate groupthrough a $0 Product, a paid Product or through an Invite.

Autoresponders - Add an autoresponder as shown in "Creating An Affiliate Group For AllUsers".

Welcome message for new affiliate users - Add a message as shown in "Creating AnAffiliate Group For All Users".

Allow 100% commission for affiliate – Tick this box if you would like to instantly pay youraffiliate 100% commissions. PLEASE NOTE: If you tick this box, make sure that you attachthis affiliate program ONLY to Packages where you want your affiliate to earn 100%commissions. It is NOT a good idea to autoassign any affiliate program that grants 100%commissions.

Save - Click on "Save" to save this affiliate Program.

DELIVERING AN AFFILIATE PROGRAMIn some instances, you will not want to auto assign an affiliate group, for example, when youwant ONLY customers of a specific product or ONLY affiliates to be able to promote aparticular Package.

FOR CUSTOMERS ONLY:In this case, you would set up the affiliate group as above. You would then attach this affiliategroup to the Product AND the Package for the Product you only want customers to sell. Byattaching this affiliate program to the Product, you are delivering the affiliate program to onlythose that purchase the Product. By attaching ONLY this affiliate program to the Package,you are allowing ONLY affiliates with this affiliate program (the customers who received thisaffiliate program by purchasing the Product) to promote the Package.

FOR AFFILIATES ONLY:In this case, you would set up the affiliate group as above. You would then deliver this affiliategroup to your affiliates through a $0 Product, a paid Product or through an Invite. Then attachthis affiliate group to the Package you wish these affiliates to promote. Do NOT attach thisaffiliate group to the Product or attach any other affiliate groups to the Package.

ATTACHING AN AFFILIATE GROUP TO A PRODUCT/PACKAGE

This section will show you how to attach an Affiliate Group to a Product as well as how toattach the Product to a Package. PLEASE NOTE: You can attach only the Affiliate Group toa Product so that it is the actual product or you could attach the Affiliate Group to an existingproduct that you sell.


This section will show you how to attach the Affiliate Group as a $0 Product. You wouldattach the Affiliate Group to a Product that you actually sell in the same way but would ofcourse, charge for the actual product.


Hover your cursor over the "Mode" icon. A box will appear telling you what Mode you are in.In order to attach an Affiliate group to a Product/Package you need to be in the "MASTER's"area. If you are in the "MEMBER's" area, click on the "Mode" icon to go to the "MASTER's"area.

In order to deliver an Affiliate Group via a Product, click on "Stores" in the main menu bar, then on "Products" in the drop down menu.

The "Products" screen will display.

Click on "Add new" to create a new Product.


Or if a Product has already been created that you want to attach the Affiliate Group to, clickon the pencil icon to edit the Product record.

Title - Name your product. In this instance, the product is an Affiliate Group, so a good namewould be the same name as the Affiliate Group.

Short description - Add a short description if you like.

Price - Set the price to 0.00. Please note that you would NOT include the currency sign suchas $ or €.

Set limits if you wish. For more information on setting limits, see the manual "How To set upProducts and Packages". PLEASE NOTE: If you are attaching the Affiliate Group to aProduct that has already been created, skip the above steps.Scroll down to the "Digital delivery" section.


Instructions - If you would like to add any instructions for your affiliates, type them in here.The instructions will display on the Thank You page.

Affiliate Programs – Click on the “add” icon to add an Affiliate Group to this Product. A newwindow will open will a list of Affiliate


In the "Click to choose" column, click on the the link of the Affiliate Program you wish to addto this Product..

Click on "Close this window" to close this window.

OR, if you know the name of the Affiliate Program you wish to add to this Product, type thwname in the text area box. Delavo™ will automatically add the Affiliate Program to thisProduct.

The Affiliates Program has been added to the Product.


Click on "Save" to save this Product.You will now need to attach the Product to a Package in order to "sell" the Affiliate Program

Refer to the “How To Set Up Products And Packages” manual for instructions on attaching aProduct to a Package.

Now you will need to send your affiliates the order link to this Product.

Click on “Store” in the main menu bar. Then click on “Packages” in the drop down menu.

You will be taken to an interface will a list of Packages on your Delavo™ system.

Click on the "view" link in the "Order link" column.

An alert box will pop-up with the order link for this Package.


This is the order link you will want to send to any potential affiliates that you wish to enroll inthis Affiliates Program.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are adding this "Affiliates Role" to a pre-existing product, you wouldfollow the directions on how to add the Affiliate Group to the product.

ATTACHING AN AFFILIATE GROUP TO AN INVITATION

An invitation is actually just another way for a user to register for your Delavo™ systemexcept that you invite a specific user to join. By using an invitation, you can recruit specificaffiliates to your affiliate program.

PLEASE NOTE: Invite WILL ONLY WORK the first time that an email address is entered intoyour Delavo™ system. If the user previously entered an email address, s/he CANNOT beinvited using the Invite feature. Delavo™ will not allow it. So, there is no need to invite a userthat has ALREADY created an account with the system because s/he would need to use aDIFFERENT email address, and thus create ANOTHER account in the system.

You would set up the invitation so that it carries the Affiliates Program and also auto assignsit. Once your prospective affiliate accepts your invitation, s/he will automatically be enrolled inthe Affiliate Program attached to the invitation.


Hover your cursor over the "Mode" icon. A box will appear telling you what Mode you are in.In order to set up an Invitation, you need to be in the "MASTER's" area. If you are in the"MEMBER's" area, click on the "Mode" icon to go to the "MASTER's" area.

Click on "Users" in the main menu bar. Then click on "Invite" from the dropdown menu.


You will be taken to the "Invitations" screen.

Click on the "Add new" button.

Title - Type in the name of the invitation in the "Title" text box. Since this is an invitation toyour JV partners, a good name would be "JV Partners Invitation".

Include to Affiliate Program(s) – Click on the “add” icon to add an Affiliate Program to thisinvitation.

Click on the "Affiliates" link in the "Click to choose" column to add an Affiliate Program to thisinvitation.


OR, If you know the name of your Affiliate Program, type the name into the text area box.Delavo™ will automatically add The Affiliate Program to this invitation.

The Affiliate Program has been added to the invitation.

Click on the "Save" button to save the invitation.

The "Affiliates Invitation" has been created. Click on the "view" link in the "Link" column. Analert box will pop-up.

Send your prospective affiliates this link. Once they click on the link, they will be taken to the"Registration" form for your Delavo™ system.


Once they join your Delano™ system, they will automatically be assigned this "Affiliates Role"and, if included, the affiliate program attached to this invitation.

MANUALLY ADDING AN USER TO AN AFFILIATE PROGRAM

You can also manually add a user to an Affiliate Program, but ONLY if the user is alreadyregistered in your Delavo™ system.Log into your Delavo™ account.


Hover your cursor over the "Mode" icon. A box will appear telling you what Mode you are in.In order to manually add an user to an Affiliate Group,, you need to be in the "MASTER's"area. If you are in the "MEMBER's" area, click on the "Mode" icon to go to the "MASTER's"area.

Click on “Users” in the main menu bar. Then click on “View all” in the drop down menu.

You will be taken to a list of users on your Delavo™ system.

Click on the pencil icon of the user you wish to add to the Affiliate Program.

You will be taken to the “Users Data” record. Scroll to the bottom where you will find a list ofAffiliate Programs the user is enrolled in.


Click on the “Add new” button.

Click on the down arrow in the “Affiliate program” section.

From the drop down menu, choose the Affiliate Program you wish to add this user to.


Click on the “Save” button.

This user has been added to the Affiliate Program.


COMMISSIONS

There are several different types of commissions that can be set in Delavo™. In mostinstances, you will set the commission in the Product record when setting up the Product.

To learn how to set up commissions at the Product level, refer to the manual “How To Set UpProducts An Packages”.

SPECIAL COMMISSION

In some instances you may want to grant a higher commission to a special group of affiliates.In this case, you need to create a new affiliate group for this special commission.

Prerequisite: Delavo™ installed on your server or access to a hosted Delavo™ account.

Purpose: Allows specific affiliates to promote your products.







Title - Since this affiliate group is for a specific group of users, you could name it somethinglike "JV Partners" or “Special Affiliate Program”" depending on what group of users will beassigned this affiliate group. PLEASE NOTE: When naming anything in Delavo™, alwayschoose a short but descriptive name so that in the future you know exactly what the Product,Package, Affiliate Group, etc. is for.

Tiers – This Affiliate Program is set up in order to give a specific group of affiliates a highercommission than normal. You will need to set up the higher commission here, not in theProduct interface. Click on the “add one more tier” link.


A new area will open where you can set up your SCAP (Special Commissions Affiliate Group)

Value – Set the value of the commission.Mode – Choose if the value is a percentage (%) or dollar amount ($).Irreducible – Choose if the commission is irreducible. PLEASE NOTE: By checkingthis box, you can pay total commissions that are more than the actual cost of theproduct. For example, you can choose to pay 110% commissions. Please refer to theChapter titled “Commissions” for more information.

You will need to deliver this special commission affiliate group to only those affiliates you wantto receive the higher commission. You can deliver this Special Commission Affiliate Programby attaching it to a $0 Product, a paid Product or to an Invite as explained above. Pleasenote: Do not attach this Special Commission Affiliate Group to the Product that this affiliategroup is promoting. Otherwise anyone that purchases the Product would be assigned thisaffiliate group and would receive the higher commission.

You would need to attach this Special Commission Affiliate Program to the Package that youwish your special group of affiliates to receive a higher commission for promoting. ThisPackage would thus have 2 affiliate programs attached, the normal affiliate program and the


special affiliate program. If the normal affiliate group is not auto assigned, you may want todeliver it by attaching it to the Product.

MULTIPLE TIER COMMISSIONSA multiple tier affiliate program is a commission structure in which an affiliate earnscommissions from their own affiliate links as well as those of the affiliates they refer to theprogram for how many tiers there are.. For example, you could pay your affiliate 50%commission on Tier 1 and then another 10% commission for each sale that their affiliatesmake. This second commission is known as a Tier 2 commission. You would also be payingyour affiliates' affiliates 50% commission as a Tier 1 commission. These second level affiliatescould also be paid a Tier 2 commission if they recruited other affiliates while the originalaffilaite will also receive commissions from this 3rd tier.. Delavo™ allows for multiple tieraffiliate programs so the first affiliate will receive commissions for the sales by however manytiers you have included in the Affiliate Program.

PLEASE NOTE: Some payment processors such as Paypal do not allow tiered commissionsand may freeze your account if they discover that you are paying tiered commissions. It istherefore recommended that you only use tiered commissions if you have your own merchantaccount or use a payment processor that allows 2 tier affiliate programs.

To add additional tiers, click on the “add one more tier” link until you have added as manytiers as you want.. Set up the commissions for each tier.

IRREDUCIBLE COMMISSIONS

Any commission can be marked as irreducible. This means that it cannot be reduced, even ifthe total amount of all commissions exceeds the amount of the sale.

Initially this was created to make it possible to sell a $0 product while crediting an affiliate with


a commission for his/her sales, but this mechanism provides more possibilities for themanipulation of commissions.

Here are a few example illustrating how it works:

Ex. 1:- Product P $100- Product commission 90% irreducible- Tier 2 commission $25 irreducible

results in:

- Sale $100- 1-tier commission $90- 2-tier commission $25

Ex. 2:- Product P $100- Product commission 90% irreducible- Tier 2 commission $10- Tier 3 commission $10

results in:

- Sale $100- 1-tier commission $90- 2-tier commission $10- 3-tier commission $0

In there is no commission paid at the 3ed tier as the 2nd and 3rd tiers were not markedirreducible.

Ex. 3:- Product P $100- Product commission 90% irreducible- Tier 2 commission $10 irreducible- Tier 3 commission $10 irreducibleresults in:

- Sale $100- 1-tier commission $90- 2-tier commission $10- 3-tier commission $10


100% AFFILIATE COMMISSION

You can also set up an Affiliate program that will deliver 100% commissions to youraffiliate(s).

Set up your Affiliate Program as shown in the chapter titled “How To Create An AffiliateGroup”.

You would NOT add anything to the "Special commission" areas.

If the check box next to "Allow 100% commission for affiliate" is checked, then this Affiliategroup will be used for 100% payment direct to the affiliate.

In order for this to work, 3 conditions must be met:

1. The affiliate must be a member of this Affiliate group.2. A Package must be available for promotion through this Affiliate group.3. The affiliate must have at least one payment gate configured in his account thatcorresponds to what the admin has configured in his/her account.

If all the above conditions are met, then during the sale, the payment goes directly to theaffiliate and not to the admin. Delavo™ checks the payment gates that would be listed on the2nd order page, and substitutes each of them with the payment gates of the correspondingtypes (Paypal to Paypal, 2CO to 2CO etc.) defined by the affiliate inside his account. So, infact, not admin's, but the affiliate's payment gates are listed on the 2nd order page. PLEASENOTE: Both admin and the affiliate need to have at least one corresponding Payment Gateset up in order for this to work. Therefore, admin may want to tell his/her affiliates that theywill need to set up a particular Payment Gate in order to receive 100% commissions.

When the customer pays, the payment goes to the affiliate. Inside Delavo™, this situation isdescribed by two new records:

1. Admin sale record on the amount of sale2. Affiliate commission record on the same amount (that is 100% commission), initiallymarked as paid


TESTING YOUR AFFILIATE PROGRAMBefore accepting any affiliates, you will want to make sure that your affiliate program workscorrectly so you will want to test the delivery of the affiliate program. If your affiliate is unableto access your affiliate program, they will be unable to promote your product(s). You will alsowant to test that an affiliate is properly credited with a sale.

Prerequisite: Delavo™ installed on your server. An Affiliate program, a Product, and aPackage set up on your Delavo™ system. You will also need an email address different fromthat used to access your Delavo™ system. If you wish to test your affiliate program viaPaypal, you will need a Paypal account other than the one used to receive payment. Also, besure that the "All" affiliate program is auto assigned.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to credit your affiliate, you must stamp your pages with a JavaScriptcode and parse your links. You will find instructions in the section titled "Stamp Your Pagesand Parse Your Links".

Purpose: To test that your affiliate program is functional. You will also want to test that anaffiliate is credited with a sale.

TESTING HOW YOUR AFFILIATE PROGRAM IS DELIVEREDThis section will explain how to test the ways in which your Affiliate Program will be deliveredto your users.

For this test, you will need to join your Delavo™ system using a different email address than that used to access your admin area. First log out, then go to the login screen of your Delavo™ system and join at "Not A Member? Join now!".

Click on "Click to register".


You will be taken to the "Registration" interface where you can join. Remember to use aDIFFERENT email address from the one you currently use to access your Delavo™ systemas admin. Register with a name such as Mary Smith so you know that this is not a real user.

Your login details will be sent to the email address that you entered in the Registration form.

Log in to your new Delavo™ account.

You will be able to access the Member's area only.


Click on "Promote" in the main menu bar. Then click on "My groups" from the drop down menu.

The "My affiliate programs" interface will display.

If you have an affiliate program that was auto assigned, you should see it in the "MYAFFILIATE PROGRAMS” list. If not, be sure that this affiliate program was auto assigned.

Next you will want to test the delivery of an Affiliate Program attached to a Product.

You will need to set up a $0 Product and also a "Customers" or “Affiliates” only affiliateprogram. See the section "Creating An Affiliate Group For Specific Users" for how to set up a"Customers" or “Affiliates” only affiliate program. To set up a $0 product, see the section"Attaching An Affiliate Program To A Product/ Package".

Now "purchase" the product that you attached a customer only affiliate program to. You willfind the order link at the "Packages" interface of your original Delavo™ account. Use yourtesting account to purchase the "Package".


This is an example of what a generic 2nd order page looks like.

As you can see in "Payment information", the product is free. The payment button has beenreplaced by a button that says "Get it".

After "purchasing" the Package, you will be taken to a page with this information.:

As you can see, you have become enrolled in the “JV Partners” Affiliate Program bypurchasing the "JV Partners Affiliates" Package.


Log in to Delavo™ using your test customer email and password.

You will be in the Member's area.

Click on "Promote" in the main menu bar. Then click on "My groups" from the drop down menu.

The "JV Partners" Affiliate Program was added to your test affiliate's Delavo™ account. Youcan also see that this rest affiliate was autoassigned the “Affiliates” Affiliate Program. Younow know that your auto assigned affiliate program as well as your affiliate program attachedto a Package are delivered correctly.

DELIVERING AN AFFILIATE PROGRAM THROUGH AN INVITATION

You would set up the invitation so that it carries the "Affiliates" program and also auto assignsit. Once your prospective affiliates accept your invitation, they will automatically receive the"Affiliates" program. Please refer to the section “Attaching An Affiliate Program To AnInvitation” for instructions.


TEST YOUR AFFILIATE PROGRAM THROUGH PAYPAL

Prerequisites: Delavo™ installed on your server. A Product that has been created andattached to a Package. An Affiliate Program has been set up and attached to the Package.You will also need 2 different Paypal accounts and 2 email addresses both of which aredifferent from the email address you use to access your Delavo™ system as admin.

Purpose: To test that your affiliate program properly credits your affiliate with a sale.

You should have 2 testing accounts in your Delavo™ system. You will use one as the testaffiliate, and the other as the test customer.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need to purchase a product using your second Paypal account andyour customer testing account. For this test, change the purchase price of the product youare going to purchase to $1.00. See the "How To set up Products and Packages” manual ifyou need help with setting up your test product.

Log in to Delavo™ using the email address and password for your test affiliate account. Youshould only be able to access "Member's" mode.

Click on "Promote" in the main menu bar. Then click on "Links" in the drop down menu.


Click on the "view" in the "Order link" column for your test product.

Copy the URL from the alert box and paste it into your browser.

Complete the ordering process using your test customer's email address. Purchase theproduct using a different Paypal email address from the one used to receive payment.Continue through until you reach the thank you page of the Product.

Log out of Delavo™. Log back into Delavo™ using your original email address (your adminemail address), making sure you are in the "Master's" area.

Click on "Customers" in the menu bar. Then click on "Sales" from the dropdown men..

Find the order in the "Sales" table.

Click on the "syslog" link in the "Logs" column at the far right in the column titled "Logs".

A pop-up window will appear where you can verify whether your Affiliate Programand commissions are properly set up and tracked by Delavo™.

A sample of a "syslog" file is shown below:


As you can see, my test affiliate, Mary Smith was credited with this commission.

TEST YOUR AFFILIATE PROGRAM WITHOUT PAYPAL

PLEASE NOTE: It is recommended that you test your affiliate program using EVERYpayment processor that you have set up in the Product interface. This is to ensure that youraffiliate program works correctly for each payment processor.

However, you can manually test your affiliate program using the following procedure.

Follow the same steps as above but only until you arrive at the 1st order page. Enter theemail address for your test customer and click on the "Proceed to checkout button". DO NOTPROCEED! DO NOT CLICK ON THE PAYMENT BUTTON! Instead, log out of Delavo™.

Log back in to Delavo™ using your original email address (your admin email address),making sure you are in "Master's" Mode.

Click on "Customers" in the menu bar. Then click on "Sales" from the dropdown men..

A "Search" interface will appear at the top of this screen.


Check the box next to "Display only UNPAID sales". Then click on "SEARCH SALES".

Scroll down to the table of uncompleted sales.

Check the box next to the record of the uncompleted sale you are testing. Then click on thedown arrow.


Choose "Mark as paid" from the drip down menu. Then click on "DO".

In the "Search" interface, remove the check from the box next to "Display only UNPAIDsales". Then click on "SEARCH SALES".

The sales should now appear in the table of sales.

In the "Transactions" column you will see that this transaction was manually completed.

Click on 'syslog" in the "Logs" column located to the far right.

A pop-up window will appear where you can verify whether your Affiliate Program andcommissions are properly set up and tracked by Delavo™ as show in the section “Test YourAffiliate Link With Paypal..


STAMP YOUR PAGES AND PARSE YOUR LINKS

You MUST STAMP all pages that participate in your affiliate program with the appropriatejavascript code.

The logic:

One of the unique features of Delavo™ is that you can create a Package, include ANYProduct you want in that Package regardless of whether that Product resides on the sameserver where Delavo™ is installed or on another server.

This way, you can have Delavo™ installed on 1 server and manage everything from there.But if you want to include any of those Products (on different servers) in your affiliateprogram, you must make Delavo™ REMEMBER clients so it can credit the correct affiliate.This is why cookies are required.

In general:

* Delavo™ cookies last 10 years.* The newest cookies replaces the last one; so if A suggests the product to C, C does notorder and B suggests the same product to C and C orders, B will get the commission.

What to include in your pages:

1) You need to include a JavaScript code after the <BODY> tag of your pages. You must include the code on ALL pages that participate in the affiliate program(s) run byDelavo™ no matter if the page resides on Server A, on Server B or on the same Server withyour Delavo™ system. This includes the pages from the Delavo™ Package/Order templates.You need to include the code on these templates too.

2) Parse ALL order URLs through a Javascript code.

How To Add The Javascript To Your Pages:

Put this code inside the pages that participate in your affiliate program directly after the<BODY> tag.

MANAGING YOUR AFFILIATES


Purpose: To show you how to manually add "Roles" and/ or "Affiliate groups" to an existingaffiliate.

Click on "Affiliates" in the menu bar. Then click on "Manage" in the dropdown menu.

A table with a list of your affiliates will appear.

Click on the pencil icon to edit the affiliates record.

You will be taken to the affiliate's "User's data" screen.

This interface contains information about your user (affiliate) including when s/he joined yourDelavo™ system, the last time s/he logged into your Delavo™ system, the name of theperson who referred him/her (if any), etc..

Personal information such as this user's email address and first and last names is alsoincluded. If this user entered any information in their profile concerning their billinginformation, it will appear here also. This will allow you to pay your affiliate by check.


At the bottom of the interface is a space where you can enter notes if you wish.

Scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find interfaces where you can manually addAffiliate Programs for this user.

You can choose which Affiliate Program to assign to the user. Set an expiration date if youwish.


PAYING YOUR AFFILIATES

Prerequisite: Delavo™ installed on your server or access to a hosted Delavo™ account. Anaffiliate program with at least one affiliate who is owed a commission.

Purpose: To show you how to pay your affiliates.

Click on "Affiliates" in the menu bar. Then click on "Commissions" in the drop down menu.

A small table with information about commissions will be displayed.

This table tells you the total amount of commissions for all of your affiliates. It also tells youhow much you have paid in commissions, the amount of commissions that are unpaid, andthe amount of commissions that are payable now.

There is also a search box where you can define what commission records to display.

If you only have a few commissions, you may not want to do a search. However, if manycommissions are payable, you may want to narrow the records by defining the search.


Scroll down to the table containing the commission records of your affiliates.

This table will give you information about your affiliates and the commission owed to them.

Once you have paid your affiliates, place a check mark in the box on the far left for eachaffiliate that has been paid. From the "With selected" box, choose "Mark as paid". Then clickthe "DO" button.

PLEASE NOTE: Use this option when paying affiliates manually, for example, when payingby check or if you have manually paid an affiliate their commissions through Paypal.

PAY COMMISSIONS THROUGH PAYPALIf you would like to pay your affiliates through Paypal, follow this procedure.

Prerequisite: Delavo™ installed on your server or access to a hosted Delavo™ account. Anaffiliate program with at least one affiliate who is owed a commission. A Paypal account.

Purpose: To show you how to pay your affiliates through Paypal.

Click on "Affiliates" in the menu bar. Then click on "Pay commissions" in the drop down menu.

A "Search" interface will be displayed where you can define what will appear in the “PayCommissions” table.


You can define the search by commissions made between two dates, by the Package, or byAffiliate9s).

Check the box on the far left for each affiliate you wish to pay.

From the "With selected..." dropdown menu, choose "Mass pay".

A new window will open.


Download the "mass pay import file" by clicking on the “download” link. Go to Paypal and usetheir Mass Pay feature to mass pay your affiliates. After you have mass paid your affiliates,click on the "CONFIRM PAYMENT" button in order to mark the commission records as paid.


PROMO MATERIAL FOR YOUR AFFILIATES

You can create promotional materials for your affiliates to help them sell your products.These could be banners, promotional emails, signature files, etc.

You can make your promotional materials available to your affiliates by editing thePromotional materials template found in the Package record. You can edit the globaltemplates or, if the promotional materials are package specific, edit the template for thatPackage.

Since most promotional materials will be package specific, this chapter will show you how toedit the Promotional template found inside the Package record.

Click on "Store" in the menu bar. Then click on "Packages" in the drop down menu.

The "Packages" interface will appear.

Click on the pencil icon next to the Package for which you would like to create promotionalmaterials.


Scroll down to the Templates, Homepage & Promotional materials section.

Then click on the “Promotional materials” link..

Either copy and paste your promotional materials to the large text area, use the WYSIWYGeditor to create the promotional materials, or copy your HTML code into the source code.You will find more detailed instructions in the manual "How To Edit The Templates".

Click on the “Save” button to save your work.


DEFINITIONS

Affiliate: Someone who promotes a merchant's products or services in exchange forpayment.

Affiliate Group: As defined in Delavo™, a group of affiliate programs.

Affiliate Marketing: A method of promoting web businesses (merchants/ advertisers) inwhich an affiliate (publisher) is rewarded for every visitor, subscriber, customer, and/or saleprovided through his/her efforts.

Affiliate Program: A program set up by a merchant to allow affiliates to sell the merchant'sproducts or services.

Commission: Payment to an affiliate for services rendered, usually the sale of a product orservice.

Invite: In Delavo™, an invitation to join a Delavo™ system. An invitation may be used toinvite a special user such as a high level affiliate.

Javascript: A scripting language most often used for client-side web development.

Parse: To analyze or separate (input, for example) into more easily processed components. Package: A container. In Delavo™, a Package contains one or more Products. In order tosell a product or service through Delavo™, a Product must be attached to a Package.

Product: A good or service which can be bought and sold. In general usage, "product" mayrefer to a single item or unit, a group of equivalent products, or a grouping of goods orservices.

Promotional Materials: Materials such as emails, banners, signature files, etc. created foran affiliate to promote a product.

Template: A pre-developed layout. The template can then be used in multiple instancesthroughout the system without the need of creating a new layout every time.
