Networking events are about winning people over with your wit and charm. When people like you, they remember you – which is handy for future opportunities. Here are five tricks that naturally charismatic people use.
Give them a warm smile and show you’re genuinely happy to meet them. We all like people who like us first.
Let them do the talking, people love talking about themselves. Be fascinated by their story, ask open-ended questions and give them ‘room’ to talk freely.
Don’t use people, they will sense immediately if you have an ulterior motive. Ask for nothing in return and focus on what you can do for them.
“It was lovely meeting you, I really enjoyed speaking with you.” A friendly farewell will leave them feeling happier for the experience of having met you.
