The Five Languages of Apology
author Gary Chapman
Psychologist-Anthropologist
People express and receive love in different ways. Dr. Chapman has identified the following as the five
languages of love:
Words of Affirmation Gifts
Quality Time Acts of Service
Physical Touch
If you express love in a way your spouse doesn’t understand, he or
she won’t realize you’ve expressed your love at all. The problem is that
you’re speaking two different languages.
You can learn to speak and understand the unique languages
of love and effectively express your love, as well as, feel truly loved in
return.
The Five Love Languages

Excerpts from the Book
“At the heart of mankind’s existence is the desire to be intimate and to be loved by an-other. Marriage is designed to meet that need for intimacy and love.”
“The object of love is not getting something you want but doing something for the well-being of the one you love. It is a fact, how-ever, that when we receive affirming words, we are far more likely to be motivated to reciprocate.”
