For Windows® XP/Windows Vista® 1. Connect your MoToRoLA

XooM to your computer using the included Micro-USB data cable.

2. Your MoToRoLA XooM appears as an icon under My Computer on your computer. open My Computer and click the XOOM icon: All of your content, such as pictures, videos and music, can be found under Device Storage.

3. Click on XOOM device under Other, then click on Device Storage (see Example A).

4. Click Edit on the menu bar and choose Select All (see Example B).

5. Select Edit, then Copy to Folder.

6. Click the Make New Folder button.

Before YoU reqUest the 4g Lte Upgradestep 1: transfer aLL of YoUr content

In order to upgrade your Motorola XooM from 3G to 4G LTE, Motorola may need to access information stored on the device. By sending your Motorola XooM in for upgrade, you agree that Motorola has your permission to do so. while Motorola will try to preserve the integrity of the data on your Motorola XooM, there may be circumstances where Motorola will have to access information stored on your tablet or perform a factory reset in order to successfully complete the 4G LTE upgrade. If you have files that are irreplaceable or that you want to keep private, please back them up to your computer and remove them from the tablet before you send it in.1 You can connect your MoToRoLA XooM to a computer with the Micro-USB cable that came with your device to back up your pictures, videos, applications, programs, music, documents and more.NOTE: The first time you use a USB connection, your computer may indicate that drivers are being installed. Follow the prompts to complete the installation. This may take a few minutes.

7. Rename the folder “XooM Back-Up” and click the Copy button (see Example C).

8. when you’re done, use Safely Remove Hardware on your computer before disconnecting the USB cable.

For Windows® 7 1. on your PC desktop, create a

new folder by right-clicking in an open area and selecting New, then Folder. Name the folder “XooM Back-Up.”

2. Connect your MoToRoLA XooM to the PC with the Micro-USB data cable that came with your device. The PC will locate the device drivers and install them. The AutoPlay dialog box will pop up when completed (see Example D).

3. Double-click on Open device to view files.

4. Double-click on Device Storage to open the MoToRoLA XooM folders (see Example E).

5. From the folder selection screen, select Organize, then Select All.

6. Click and hold one of the folders, and drag and drop the folders into the “XooM Back-Up” folder (see Example F).

7. when you’re done, use Safely Remove Hardware on your computer before disconnecting the USB cable.

For Mac® 1. Download and install the Mac File Transfer tool from the Android site

(www.android.com/filetransfer). 2. once you install the Mac File Transfer tool, follow the steps below

to copy the files: a. Create a new folder on your Mac desktop and name it “XooM

Back-Up.” b. Connect your MoToRoLA XooM to your Mac using the

Micro-USB data cable that came with your device. once connected, Mac File Transfer will pop up.

c. Highlight the folders in the Mac File Transfer box and drag and drop them into the “XooM Back-Up” folder (see Example G).

step 2: Back Up YoUr googLe accoUnt

You can set up your MoToRoLA XooM to back up application data, wi-Fi passwords and other settings to Google servers. You can also choose the Automatic Restore setting to automatically restore these settings when you log back in to your device.Instructions for backing up to Google: 1. Tap Settings > Privacy. 2. Tap Back up my data to enable the checkbox. 3. Tap Automatic Restore to enable the checkbox.

step 3 (optionaL): encrYpt YoUr data or deLete YoUr data BY resetting YoUr MotoroLa XooM

You may choose to encrypt your MoToRoLA XooM to password- protect your content from accidental misuse. Alternatively, you may choose to perform a factory reset to clear your personal content from your device. If you choose to perform a factory reset, ensure you have completed Step 1 to back up your content. You will not be able to recover the data from the device itself following the factory reset. All of your personal information will be removed from the device’s memory. To encrypt your MOTOROLA XOOM:Encrypting your MoToRoLA XooM protects your accounts, settings, downloaded applications and their data, media and other files. once you encrypt your tablet, you must enter a numeric PIN or password to decrypt it each time you power it on.

NOTE: In the future, should you wish to un-encrypt your tablet, you must perform a factory data reset, which will erase all of your data.Encryption takes an hour or more. You must start with a charged battery and keep your tablet plugged in until encryption is complete. If you interrupt the encryption process, you will lose some or all of your data. 1. Tap Settings > Location and Security > Encrypt Tablet. 2. Tap Encrypt Tablet.

To reset your MOTOROLA XOOM:If you choose to reset your MoToRoLA XooM to factory settings and erase all of your personal data from the device, follow the steps below: 1. From the Home screen, tap Apps in the upper-right corner. 2. Tap Settings. 3. Tap the Privacy menu option, and select Factory Data Reset. 4. Read the warning and ensure you have backed up your content. 5. Tap the Reset Tablet button. 6. Read the final confirmation warning, and then tap Erase

Everything. Your MoToRoLA XooM will power off and on. Please ensure that your device is powered off prior to shipment.

step 4: pack and ship YoUr MotoroLa XooM to MotoroLa

1. Be sure to power your MoToRoLA XooM down before proceeding to Step 2.

4. Place the closed box in the supplied, padded FedEx envelope. Seal the envelope closed; the FedEx shipping label will already be affixed to the outside of the envelope for shipping (see Examples J and K).

5. Deliver the package to any FedEx drop-off location or Drop Box for shipping. To locate the drop-off location nearest you, visit the FedEx website (www.fedex.com).

When the package has been received, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a link to track the status of your return shipment. Motorola will insure your device during the shipping process as long as all steps outlined here are followed.

2. Place the device securely in the supplied protective cover and box tray. Place the extra thick foam insert on top of the device. Do not include any accessories (chargers or cases) with the device (see Examples H and I).

3. Place a copy of the packing list that was emailed to you (or that you printed online at the time of your submission) in the box and close the box.
