Tip 2 – Enrich your blog posts with pictures and / or videos!

Why not enrich your blog posts with photos and videos?

Embedding a video you uploaded to YouTube can present SEO benefits. Plus the alt tags and filename of an image can also help with search engine optimisation.

Tip 3 – Keywords

Often too much consideration is given to keywords in relation to website SEO.

This sounds crazy I know, but it is true. The fact is often if you thought of a blog title, url and keywords that relate to what your content is regarding, then you are increasing the relevancy and catering to potential visitors already.

I’m not saying do not research, you should, but don’t think your blogs success will based on just keywords, that isn’t true at all.

Use Google’s Keyword Tool to find a handful of keywords, then researching competition for those keywords using SEO Quake might present you the tipping point, to helping you gain more visitor traffic.

However over stuffing your blog posts with keywords though, probably will be a waste of your time, plus deter you from writing great blog content.

Find the balance that enables to you regularly produce good web copy.

Tip 4 – Update the old content

Some people are afraid of updating their old content, but often it can be letting a website down, being slightly off the mark and having a negative impact on search engine placement and visitor traffic.

Perhaps there are too few words in some of the blog posts? Maybe some blog posts are contributing to a high bounce rate?

Here are some considerations:• Increase words to between 300 – 400 per blog post.• Change the formatting to include blog, italic and underline.• Have some bold sentences with spacing above and below

to highlight key points.• Add a gallery, single image or embed a video.• Chang

All the above tips not only will contribute to you producing more engaging content, but make the content ‘scanable’, plus contribute to search engine optimisation.

Images

If you have a collection of images, it is best you pick just one or two for the main blog post, and then optimise them to load quickly i.e. resize and use jpg.

Then you can have larger images in a gallery for people to view if they desire.

Again don’t get carried away and consider your bandwidth. If you provide too many photos people might feel they have spent long enough on your website.

So ten or so resized jpg images might just be right, it all depends on your content and target audience.

Video

When embedding video, if there is an option on the video sharing site not to show related videos directly after, it is probably worth selecting.

That way you are not encouraging people to leave your website, to view someone else’s content!
