• Many players are accepting benefits that are violating NCAA rules. These include taking money, cars, clothing, housing, etc.

Amount of Time

• Players attend a maximum of 20 hours of practice a week, however, some players in the division 1 bowl subdivision say that they spend an average of 44.8 hours on their sport

Money Earned for School

• Players should be paid because they generate so much money for their schools in sales of merchandise

Publicity

• Players promote the school while playing hard• This brings in large amounts of money

University of Connecticut Notre Dame University

Cam Newton

• Cam was cited for violations that he accepted almost $200,000 to play for Auburn. He denied it and claimed he had no idea what had happened or where this claim came from.

Reggie Bush

• Reggie and his family accepted more than $100,000 in illegal benefits

The Ohio State University

• Terrell Pryor and some of his fellow teammates were recently suspended for receiving improper benefits

•The players combined were given more than $10,000 for all their memorabilia.

Nate Miles

• Nate Miles was a star recruit who had many troubles away from the basketball court

•Miles was given all sorts of money, clothing, hotel fair, food, and other things to get him to attend Uconn

John Calipari

• He always recruits several star recruits, however, they are not always acquired according to NCAA rules

•While Calipari was coaching at Memphis, he was involved with a scandal that had someone take an SAT exam for one of his recruits, NBA MVP Derrick Rose

All of these players were given some sort of penalty for their actions. Every one of them was based somehow on money. These show another valid argument that players deserve to be paid for all the effort and hard work they put into the schools sport.
