Lucas Wood- Main Protagonist Inspiration for our hero

came from the character ‘Peter Parker’ in Spiderman. We felt his casual yet focused attitude was more relatable for our younger target audience.

Our character reflects these attributes, but also demonstrates his experience in his field, therefore making Lucas more realistic.

Phil- Lucas’ Accomplice To find an

appropriate accomplice for Lucas, we searched for an intelligent and serious personality. We found a similar character (Matt Farrell) from the film Die Hard 4.0. Phil acts as Lucas’

informer, and occasionally gives him orders- this has the effect of making the two equal. Their contrasting personalities also cement their relationship.

Representation- Action Hero

We decided to counter the stereotypes of traditional ‘heroes’ in action films, who seem to perform impossible tasks with ease.

Representation- Action Hero

We decided to counter the stereotypes of traditional ‘heroes’ in action films, who seem to perform impossible tasks with ease.

One way in which this was countered is shown in the picture on the right, the Extreme close up shot reveals Lucas’ tension and stress, to be expected in his profession. By showing Lucas’ emotions in this situation, we are countering the stereotypical action hero, therefore making Lucas more relatable for our young target audience.

Representation- Computer Geek

Our second character, Phil, is representing the stereotypical Computer geek, who would be expected to be reclusive, humourless yet intelligent. This was achieved in one part through his costume. The large glasses and smart clothing connote his intelligence.

Representation- Computer Geek

Our second character, Phil, is representing the stereotypical Computer geek, who would be expected to be reclusive, humourless yet intelligent. This was achieved in one part through his costume. The large glasses and smart clothing connote his intelligence.

Furthermore, particular attention to the Mise en Scene further connotes Phil’s reclusive nature, for example the multiple computer screens suggest Phil prefers to be kept away from the action, watching from a distance. We believe that the two contrasting personalities help to cement Phil and Lucas’ partnership, and therefore more realistic for the audience.
