What different areas of society are represented in your magazine?• My magazine represents the younger lower-middle class portion

of society. The two models on my front cover are both male young adults, both dressed respectably, with the model on the left wearing a scarf, connoting implications of style and a more middle class choice of clothing. This gives off the impression I want from my magazine, given it’s £4 price tag, it is safe to assume that it is primarily the middle class purchasing my magazine.

• My magazine also explores the idea of featuring more rugged characters to suit the genre of indie rock traditionally being produced from basics. Presenting one of my models in a denim jacket smoking demonstrates the reckless nature of not only the youth, but indie rock and how it can appeal to many people, contrasting the middle class, more indie model on my cover, with a more working class, denim jacket wearing individual.

Do you represent a sub-culture?• My magazine would target primarily hipsters and more indie

groups, as well as what is primarily considered an average middle class young adult. Targeting and featuring these people is a popular market, as they often find the time to be interested in these magazines as well as take a keen interest in this genre of music. Representing people like them would make my magazine more engaging to this particular sub-culture of youth. Dressing my models in a similar way to what would be expected of this particular sub-culture makes it more engaging to my primary audience.

Do you deal with issues of race, gender, ethnicity, age, social class, disability?• I deal with the issue of ethnicity by featuring a variety of ethnic

origins to demonstrate that my magazine can appeal to anyone and is non-discriminatory. This also adds diversity to my magazine and makes it more engaging and accessible to more groups of people.

• My magazine is primarily male dominated, this is down to the fact that my featured band in question consisted of men, as seen in many popular bands similar to my genre of music such as the Arctic Monkeys and The Smiths.

• My magazine features people from different social backgrounds, with my models sporting a range of outfits, varying from traditionally middle class pea coats, to more working class denim jackets. This helps my magazine appeal to more people from different social backgrounds, but still making sure that I stay in touch with my target audience of the lower middle class.
