MAIN OBJECTIVES IN RELATION TO THE NEEDS ANALYSIS

To train post‐graduate students to

fill the gap between the growing

industry demand for specialised

renewable energy expertise and the

skills available in the job market.

3

To offer the opportunity to develop the specialised skills in therenewable energy in a more holistic approach by encompassingrenewable energy technologies as well as the policy‐making andfinancial mechanisms for renewable energy investments.

Page 4: HOW DO PROJECT OFFICES International Seminar 2012 ... · Measurement of potential for RESuse with geomatics. Definition and implementation of policy‐making mechanisms. Financial

MAIN OBJECTIVES IN RELATION TO THE NEEDS ANALYSIS

The course is in alignment with the UNESCO goals to integrate the

principles, values, and practices of sustainable development into all aspects

of education and learning, as stated in the UN Resolution 57/254 (2002).

4

European Union: Leading role on strategies and mechanisms to promote RES since 1997.Has endorsed in 2007 a binding target to source 20% of the bloc's energyneeds from renewable sources by 2020.

Page 5: HOW DO PROJECT OFFICES International Seminar 2012 ... · Measurement of potential for RESuse with geomatics. Definition and implementation of policy‐making mechanisms. Financial

Two specializations will be offered:

I. Geomatics applied on Renewable Energy Sources – explore

the use of Geographical Information System as a supporting

tool for decision making of renewable energy policies and

investment.

II. Renewable energy technologies ‐ technical aspects of

renewable energy technologies and possible ways on how to

integrate them to the national grid in a reliable and cost‐

effective way.5

MAIN OBJECTIVES IN RELATION TO THE NEEDS ANALYSIS

RETM MASTER PROGRAMME

4th Academic semester (Master thesis) – February through June

Students will choose the partner institution (full partner or associated partner)

where he/she will write the Master thesis according to his/her field of research

chosen.

In the case the student will undertake the Master thesis in an associated partner

institution (e.g., a company or organization that will offer a research project), the

period of experience will last from mid‐February through mid‐May. After this

period, the student will go to one of full partner institutions to conclude the

Master thesis.

An academic member of a full partner institution will be assigned for each Master

thesis.
