How do I activate my HSBCnet profile using my invitation email? If you have received an invitation email from your System Administrator to set up your new profile on HSBCnet, this guide will walk you through:

• Using the link in your invitation email to begin the profile setup process.

• Setting up your profile with the correct details and security measures.

• Submitting your profile for approval by a System Administrator.

To begin setting up your HSBCnet profile, first open the email from your HSBCnet System Administrator containing the registration link. Copy and paste the whole link into the address bar of your web browser.

Note: Ensure you copy and paste the entire link into your browser as it contains your unique User Registration Reference.

The link from the invitation email will direct you to the HSBCnet User Registration page where you will add your information and set up an account, explained below.

Personal Information When entering your Personal information, consider the following:

• The items coloured red and marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory and must be completed. The other information is optional.

• Enter your name and title in the Personal details section, this should be your name not the name of your company.

• Your date of birth must be entered in the format dd/mm/yyyy. Alternatively select the icon next to the field to choose the date on a calendar.

• You must confirm your date of birth as it cannot be changed once your user registration is submitted.

Personal Information details

Log on information

Provide your Log on information to keep your profile secure, this includes:

a. A username:

Your Username will appear on your profile and will be needed when logging on to HSBCnet. You should set up a username that is easy for you to remember. This needs to be unique and cannot be changed once you have registered for HSBCnet. However, if you are happy with the username you have been assigned, you can leave it as it is.

b. A memorable question and answer:

The memorable answer that you provide at this stage will not be visible to anyone other than yourself. System Administrators do not have access to view or modify this information.

c. A password for logging on to HSBCnet:

When you create your password avoid using anything that may be easily guessed, for example, avoid using your name, username or company name. It is vital you remember this password as you will need it to logon to HSBCnet for the first time.

Select the Continue to proceed.

Security Information

Security questions are used to provide a secondary method of user verification. This helps to protect your personal information. Security questions and answers are designed to be memorable to you but hard for anyone else to guess. Remember, for added security avoid using anything that has already been entered, your username or name should not be used as answers as they could be easily guessed by unauthorised users.

Select the Continue button to proceed.

Double checking the information is vital as certain fields cannot be altered after completing this process. If there are any changes needed, select the appropriate link to update the information.

Acknowledgement

Once you have submitted the registration you will see an acknowledgement screen.

The final stage in the process is for your HSBCnet System Administrator to authorise your registration. Your account will become active once this approval is provided.

Logging on for the first time with your new Security Device Note: Before activating your new Device, please note that it must be assigned to you by your System Administrator.

Complete the following steps if you are a System Administrator or End User and are logging on to HSBCnet to activate your new Security Device.

1. On your HSBCnet home page, choose Log on.

2. The Capture Username page appears. Enter your username and select Continue to proceed.

3. The Capture Security Credentials page appears. Enter your memorable answer. Enter the three requested characters of your password. Select Continue to proceed.

4. The Security Device Registration page appears.

• Switch it on by pressing and holding the green circle button for two seconds.

• Match what is shown on your device display with one of the images on the screen. This guide focuses on the ‘NEW PIN’ option. Choose the Select button for the device that displays ‘NEW PIN’.

Security Device setup page

5. The Set Security Device PIN page appears giving you on-screen instructions to set up your pin. These steps are as follows.

Turn your Security Device on by pressing the green button for 2 seconds.

Enter a PIN into your Security Device that will need to have 4 – 8 random and non-sequential digits. Press the yellow square button to submit the new pin.

Your device displays the message ‘PIN CONF’. Re-enter the same PIN to confirm it. Once complete, select the yellow square button.

The ‘NEW PIN CONF’ message appears before displaying two dashes, meaning you new PIN has been set up.

6. Next, Link your Security Device to your account

• If the field in Step 1 is blank, input the Security Device Serial Number found on the back of your new device ensuring you do so without any dashes.

• If this field in Step 1 is pre-populated with a number, ensure that the on-screen number matches the serial number on the back of your Security Device. Contact your System Administrator if these numbers do not match.

7. The Set up the Security Device for your account page appears giving you on-screen instructions to set up your pin. These steps are as follows.

8. You are asked to provide a security code. This is a 6-digit code that can be generated using your Security Device and PIN number.

• Turn your security devise on by pressing the green button for 2 seconds.

• Enter your PIN that you just set up.

• Select the green button again to generate a security code.

• Enter the security code displayed on your device into the Security Device code text field.

• Select Continue.

The New User- First Time Logon page appears, which means you have now successfully set up your Security Device. Select the Continue button to proceed immediately to the HSBCnet Homepage.

The HSBCnet Terms and Conditions page appears. Select the Accept Terms and Conditions checkbox at the bottom of the page and Continue again. The HSBCnet home page appears. You have successfully activated your new Security Device. Begin using the services you have been entitled to.

Note: To log on to HSBCnet, in the future you will only be asked to authenticate yourself by entering your Security Device code.
