How did you use media technologies in the construction,

research, planning and evaluation stage?

Throughout my research and planning stages I used

a number of different programs and websites to

help me

During my early research, I took many music videos from YouTube and embedded them onto my blog to analyse them. This was an important part of our research as after watching many professional music videos, it helped us decide what sort of genre and song we wanted to choose and then create a music video for.

We also used YouTube later on when we were looking at using, challenging and developing typical conventions for our genre. Again, we took music videos from Youtube and embedded them onto our blog and analysed these by writing about shot types, props and locations and whether we used them, challenge them or developed on them.

Alongside our research, planning and construction we used Blogger as an easy and simple way of recording and viewing all of our work.We posted all our research from YouTube by embedding music videos onto a post and also included screen shots of the construction of our music video from Premier Pro onto our blogs.

We used Microsoft Word in the research and planning of our music video to create our target audience questionnaires, risk assessments and shooting schedules to ensure it was clear to read and so that we could access and edit it again if we needed to.

We also took screen shots of these to place onto our blog when recording our work.

We used Facebook to get into contact with the artist of our song choice, to ensure we had the correct permission to use his song, and that we weren’t breaching copyright.

I also used Facebook to get into contact with my group when organising times and places to film.

We didn’t use Microsoft Excel much throughout our research stage.

However we found it the best and easiest way to turn the results from our target audience questionnaires into graphs and charts to make it easier when it came to analysing them on our blogs.

I also used a digital camera (Nikon Coolpix L23, 10.1 mega pixel) when taking photographs of locations that

we planned to use and also of the cast

During the construction of our music video, we used a number of technologies,

software & equipment

We used Premier Pro a lot during the editing of our music video. We used different effects like cross dissolves and also sped up certain shots to fit in with the tempo of our song.

We used Photoshop when constructing the ancillary tasks – magazine poster and digipak.

We used different tools on Photoshop such as converting it to black and white and we also downloaded a new font that fitted in with our music genre more.

We used iMacs in the construction of our music video and ancillary tasks.

This is where we used software such as Photoshop and Premier Pro, and also when we did our research and planning using Google Chrome and Youtube.

This is the camera we used when filming our music video (Panasonic NV-GS500). We used this in the construction of our task, to capture a wide range of shots and sequences.

We also used a tripod in the construction of our music video, which allowed us to have a range of different shots – pans, tilts etc. and also so that our shots were very still (professional looking) and not shaky.

I used my mobile phone during the construction of our music video, so that I could get into contact with the other person in my group when arranging times and dates to film via text/Facebook.

I also used my mobile to keep up to date with my blog, and to bluetooth images and other files across to our computer during every stage of the portfolio.

We used a digital camera (Nikon Coolpix L23, 10.1 mega pixel) when we were working on our digipak, to take photographs that related to our music video. To ensure brand identity we took the camera out during filming so the images used were similar to our video.

We took a number of photographs for our front cover, back cover and inside covers of our digipak and decided on the final 4 that would be on our completed digipak.
