Making the Unconscious Conscious Why is it that, while we enjoy the highest standard of living in the world, many of us feel as though we are living in a contemporary drought. By unconscious participation in our fast-paced, financially-driven society, we unwittingly partake in its shadow side as well –– an escalating fragmentation and displacement that constellates a kind of explosive charge in the collective unconscious that has the power to destroy us when acted out in violence and war. The Dali Lama was recently asked "how to end war on earth." His response was that "inner disarmament of the individual is the only way to address violence and create lasting peace.” The insights of Swiss Psychiatrist, Carl Gustav Jung, into the nature of the unconscious and shadow can help us do exactly this –– bring forth what is within us so it does not destroy us. Jung says it is only in making the unconscious conscious that we are able to recognize shadow and live our healthy authenticity. We will address this “split” in contemporary consciousness by exploring how to get in touch with, and integrate, our own shadow. Individual inner disarmament heals personal discord and contributes to collective peace throughout the world. Image taken from C. G. How can “Inner Disarmament” Create Peace? Making the Unconscious Conscious

Why is it that, while we enjoy the highest standard of living in the world, many of us feel as though we are living in a contemporary drought.
