Types of housing…
Your parent’s place
Usually freeAllows you to save up money for other housing options later
Dormitory
This is a housing option typically offered while attending college
Close to classes, easy to meet people and make friends
Cost is usually all inclusive, including food and maintenance
Downside? Not much privacy.
Apartment
Can be inside a building or its own complex (which may offer other amenities)
You decide the size (efficiencies are the smallest, duplexes are the biggest)
Comes with or without furniture
Houses, Condos, and Mobile Homes
Renting a house is most expensive option and greatest amount of flexibility (have a pet, most privacy, greatest amount of space). Maintenance of property is typically renter’s responsibility
Condo is like an apartment, usually has association fees in addition to mortgage. Amenities are included in monthly fee.
Mobile home is transferable to any designated space. Downside is space may not be in city or area desired.
