Seller Insight This extended and refurbished five-bedroom dormer-style detached bungalow, which has an integral garage and a

detached wooden outbuilding, is set in a secluded garden of more than half an acre in a semi-rural location in Shirley.

The current owners, who have had the property since 2003, were attracted by its spacious open plan, contemporary interior and high ceilings, its large private gardens and by its very quiet location within easy reach of amenities and work. At that time it had only four bedrooms, all on the ground floor and including one en-suite, but everything was in place for the current owners to add a staircase and a large first floor bedroom with en-suite facilities. In 2006, the rest of the bathrooms were updated, including the family bathroom, which has a four piece suite including a spa bath and a walk-in double shower. The kitchen was modernised at the same time, while the worktops have been recently replaced. In 2011, a new Bosch boiler was installed and the laundry room was refurbished.

Externally, a long gated driveway leads to a parking and turning area and an integral single garage to which the owners have added an electric roll shutter door. An extensive decked area adjoins the bungalow on two sides, which on one side currently encompasses a dwarf brick wall that has been constructed as a base for a large conservatory. From here, a paved path leads across the lawn to a versatile wooden outbuilding with power and light that has recently been refurbished. The remainder of the garden is mainly laid to lawn with some fruit trees, including pear, apple and damson and the whole is largely surrounded by substantial hedging.

The bungalow is excellently situated, being within walking distance of Whitlocks End Station on the Birmingham to Stratford railway line and within easy reach of the M42 and the M40. While benefiting from a quiet rural location, the bungalow has every amenity close at hand, including a primary school, bars and restaurants, a library and a Tesco Express at Dickens Heath, the Solihull Retail Park on the south side of Shirley, and Beckett’s Farm Shop at Wythall.
