“One Man’s Opinion”

Part I OK, it’s official, the World is coming to an end, it’s snowing in Helland a rich man is climbing through the eye of a needle as we speak.

What are you talking about Ron? Let’s see, (1) A Black woman, Ms.

Georgia Benton was just inducted into the United Daughters of the

Confederacy. (2) The News Press took Jack Kingston to task for his

insensitive remarks suggesting that school children sweep the cafeteria to receive their “free” lunch.

ANNND (3) Are you sitting down? Tony Thomas and I AGREE on an issue. To be perfectly honest, I

brought it up first.

The issue is allowing the clubs and lounges to open on Sundays, since package shops and convenience

stores can sell alcohol on Sundays but to date, clubs and lounges are required to close because they

don’t derive the majority of their income on that day from food. Take a minute and take a look at

“One Man’s Opinion” in HOT SPOT Issue #374. In this issue I made the case for Sunday club

openings along with allowing them to stay open 24/7. Yea,... Uh Huh,…. Yea,…. Uh Huh….

I’m not really going to speak too much on Ms. Benton’s induction in the United Daughters of the

Confederacy, I read a few articles on the ceremony but I’m not really feeling it. Don’t get me

wrong, it really doesn’t affect me one way or another, I just thought it was kind of incongruent,

but as my mother would say; “if she likes it, then I love it”. Ms. Benton, please accept my Sincere

Congratulations.

OK, Jack, Jack, Jack, let’s see you want the poor little children whose parents can’t afford to pay for breakfast and lunch in school to sweep the floors in the cafeteria to get fed. What’s next children?, “oh

I know” rake the lawn and we’ll turn the heat on in your classroom and be sure to clean the bathroom

and we’ll let you use our books. Yes, I know, you tried to clean up your mess with self serving state-

ments about teaching them, um I mean, All students about a work ethic, Blah, Blah, Blah. I think your

Freudian statements sink to the level of Romney’s Entitlement Statements. To be honest Jack, I pretty

much ignored your over the years, even after we met, I figured you couldn’t do much damage. To

be clear I don’t think you have, you’ve probably even been an asset to the area, BUT if this stated

position on school lunch is any indication of your True feeling and not a “misspeak” then…...I just

removed what I originally typed here, because even though I don’t have much clout or influence I will

keep watching you and reporting, so please don’t slip up again.
