BALLOON LAUNCHESThe best times for balloon launches are 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Times may vary depending on weather conditions. Moon glows (hot air balloons tethered and lit up with propane) will be displayed in the evening, following the 6pm launch.

THINgS TO DOWhen the balloons aren’t overhead, there is still plenty to do: along the walkway around the edge of the festival grounds, craft and trade booths invite browsing, and a children’s area entertains everyone from toddlers to tweens. Live music can be enjoyed throughout the day and night at stages in both Lewiston and Auburn. From children’s shows and blues singers to jazz, pop, and oldies. A carnival, parade, and various demonstrations and contests round out the weekend events.

THINgS TO EATScallops, lobster rolls, clam cakes, hamburgers, sausage sandwiches and so much more, All brought to you by nonprofit organizations. Meals under the big tent include BBQ chicken & ribs on Friday and Saturday evening, and breakfast throughout the weekend. Watch the launches while you enjoy a pancake or continental breakfast.

gETTINg HERE ...The main launch site for the festival is Simard-Payne Memorial Park (formerly Railroad Park), off Oxford Street in Lewiston.

From Points NorthTake the Maine Turnpike (I-95) to Exit 80, Lewiston. At the light, turn left and follow ME-196 W/Lisbon Street downtown (about 2.5 mi.). At the intersection of Lisbon Street and Main, turn left. At the next light, turn left onto Lincoln Street. Simard-Payne Memorial Park is located off Oxford Street, one block over from Lincoln.

From Points SouthTake the Maine Turnpike (I-95) to Exit 75, Auburn. At the light, turn left and follow US-202/ ME-4/ ME-100/ Auburn (Washington Street and Minot Avenue) for about 4.75 mi., to the intersection with Court Street. Turn right onto Court Street. Cross the bridge into Lewiston. Take the first right onto Lincoln Street. Simard-Payne Memorial Park is located off Oxford Street, one block over from Lincoln.

PARKINgAmple parking is available in the downtown area. Nonprofit groups will be manning several parking lots adjacent to the festival grounds. Donations are welcome. Handicapped parking will be located near Festival Plaza in Auburn, and Simard-Payne Memorial Park in Lewiston.

RESTAURANTS & LODgINgFor our out-of-town guests, a Restaurant & Lodging Guide is available from the Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce. To receive a directory, call the Chamber office at (800) 639-6331 or (207) 783-2249.

SAFETYSmoking: Due to the fire hazard created by the use of propane gas and the risk of damage to the balloon envelopes, smoking is prohibited on festival grounds.

Pets: Pets are not allowed on festival grounds.

Bikes, skates and boards: Because of the high level of foot-traffic throughout the grounds, no bikes, scooters, roller skates or skateboards are allowed.

LANDOwNER RELATIONSWe ask that everyone involved in the festival, including spectators, volunteers and balloonists, be respectful of landowners’ rights and responsibilities.

The best way to experience the festival is in a hot air balloon. Balloon rides are available throughout the weekend for $200 per person. What a great way to celebrate a special event or just see the city. Reservations are suggested to guarantee best times available. Balloon rides will be sold at the festival and gift certificates are also available. For more information, call the Balloon Ride Line at (207) 782-2637 or visit our website.
