Why Krakow?ⓦ Krakow is the second biggest city in Poland. It is the administrative centre of the Ma∏opolska Region,as well as a trans-regional scientific, economic and cultural centre – a real magnet not only for entrepreneurs, scientists, artists and people of cultural distinction, but also tourists. Krakow is visitedby over 10 million tourists each year, so the largest base of HoReCa sector is located in Krakow.ⓦ The economic significance of Krakow is strengthened by the demographic capacities of the region– there are ca. 9 million people living within 100 km radius from the city. This ensures a strong potentialmarket. Another advantage consists in the fact that 66 percent of the population is at working age.ⓦ Excellent transport infrastructure – A-4 motorway; CORRIDOR III, the main transit route from WesternEurope to Ukraine; Krakow Airport Balice, the second largest airport in Poland servicing over 3 million passengers every year, and the nearby Katowice Airport situated only 60 km away from Krakow.

The catering market in Poland is growing on average by 2-3% every year. Changing eating habits are certainly a contributing factor. More and more Poles eat out, with only

one in every three declaring that they never eat outside of their home. Over the last decadethe number of restaurants in Poland has grown by 42%, with almost 17,000 establishments operating across the country. This is one of the reasons why restaurateurs look for new pro-

ducts and interesting ideas to make sure they stand out among the growing competition.

It is for the fourteenth time that distributors of food and beverages to the catering industry willpresent their commercial offers at the GASTROFOOD® trade fair, which wonderfully comple-ments the presentation of equipment and services for hotel and catering businesses. The event is accompanied by two theme-based salons: the 6th Coffee and Tea Salon and the 4th Regional Products Salon. The GASTROFOOD® trade fair involves manyseminars and culinary workshops run by specialists,

which are dedicated to recent trends in theHoReCa sector. Traditionally the

fair is also accompaniedby a 3-day Culinary

Festival, with manyculinary andbartendingdemonstra-

tions andcompeti-

Thematicscope of the Fair:

It is estimated that a Pole drinks on average more than 500 ser-vings of coffee, and 650 servings of tea, per year. These are incre-

asingly consumed in cafes, teashops and eateries. The Polish teamarket is the third largest in Europe, after those in the UK and Russia.

While the consumption of tea has been steady for several years now,the drinking of coffee has increased by over 80% in the past 10 years, as

the coffee market in Poland has recorded a six-fold increase. The turnover of Poland’s cafes is growing by about 20% annually.

The dynamic changes in the coffee and tea markets are an incentivefor café, tea-house and restaurant owners to increase their in-

volvement and ensure that the quality of their products and services are at the top level. The Coffee and Tea Salonwill provide the producers and distributors of coffee,

tea and brewing equipment with an opportunityto promote new products and establish

business contacts with other profes-sionals in the HoReCa sector.

Healthy and ecological living have become increasingly popular in the recent years. Eating right has become fashionable. Clients are

more and more demanding, asking for high quality, unprocessedfoodstuffs. Consumers began appreciating local products be-

cause of they are natural and original in flavour, which is whyrestaurants frequently introduce regional food to their menus.

The Regional Products Salon is a response to these changing eating trends; this is where food producers can meet restauranteurs and convince them, at the

especially organised tasting sessions, of the exceptional flavours and nourishing quality

of their products.

The Krakow fair is an event that plays a key

role in Poland. Any brand that wants to build its image and takes

its future seriously needs to be here.

Wojciech Chojnicki, Winterhalter Gastronom

Polska Sp. z o.o.

The HORECA® Trade Fair is quite specific, and more and

more clients interested in our products visit the fair. Krakow’s event is frequented by an increasing number of guests from

such countries as Slovakia, Germany and the Czech Republic, which we

are very happy about.

Tomasz Gawlik, Optimum

Page 11: HORECA® and GASTROFOOD® Trade Fair in Poland 2015

Why is the Krakow fair particularly recommended?

These days if you don’t follow the news and introduce

new products or services in your business you take a step back. You have to be here to

find out what’s going on in the sector, to surprise your clients. We get a lot of information about new products and what other firms have to offer. This is a very important event to us, especially since Novem-

ber is usually quiet. Sometimes it is therefore a good time to come to a fair like this.

Małgorzata Szostak, the Siedem Smaków

restaurant from MyÊlenice

A hotel must meet even the most demanding

tastes of clients and follow the novelties on the market. All these new products that are continually

coming onto the market are presented here. We certainly need a meeting

place like this.

Sonia Krochmel, Hotel Krakus

This is the ideal place to get to know modern

technologies. I come here every year to find out what’s new in the

sector, and to discover new flavours in coffee, tea, wine or food products.

Paweł Wójcik, hotel Willa Aromat
