Basketball Compe on  Last Monday, Homebush West PS sent four teams to Condell Park Basketball Stadium to compete in an inter‐schools basketball compe on. The four teams were made up of two girls and two boy’s teams from Stage 3 coached by Mr Fung, Mr Leeson, Mrs Kundrat and Mr Smith and showcasing a variety of talent and enthusiasm from across the stage. The teams faced some tough compe on from some well‐oiled teams but showed a great deal of heart while represen ng the school. Each team played three games and while most teams had some close losses, Mr Leeson's girl’s team pulled of a drama c last minute comeback to steal a victory. They were down a couple of baskets but rallied hard to generate some turnovers and convert the steals to much needed baskets. The other three HWPS teams watched the match with excitement and cheered hard when the final siren sounded. We were without a doubt the most well behaved school at the compe on with all students doing both themselves and the school proud. The fantas c day was capped off with lunch in the adjacent park followed with some exercise on the soccer field that included soccer, football, basketball and so ball catching prac ce which both students and teachers enjoyed immensely. A big thank you goes to Mr Leeson, Mr Fung and Ms Loos for their organisa on of a fantas c day.

P&C News Father’s Day Fundraising Report Thank you to all parents, grandparents, carers, teachers and staff who supported our Father’s Day fundraising by purchasing cookie mix, aprons and oven mi s. We hope your dad, rela ve or friend enjoyed making or ea ng the cookies and we hope a few of you had a fun cooking experience making them. Student’s wrote their own names on the aprons and tea towels and enjoyed making a crea ve, personalised gi ! The profit from the fundraiser was just over $1880. Unfortunately, we had less families place orders than for Mother’s Day and previous years. We only achieved a profit because some families made mul ple orders and we used jars and aprons purchased in previous years. A huge thank you to the large team of parents and carers who helped with picking up stock, making cookie mix, hand prin ng, labelling orders, ironing and delivering orders.  Cupcake Day Week 4 Our next fundraiser is a Cupcake Day on Wednesday 1 November. This term is it kindergarten families turn to bake or buy cupcakes for the fundraiser. Please support the fundraiser by bringing $2 to purchase a cupcake on 1 November. To make this Cupcake Day a success we need helpers from 8:55‐11 am and 2:45‐3:15 on Wednesday 1 November. This is a great opportunity to help as a one‐off, please email suzanne@suzanne‐ellis.com or sms Suzanne 0410 507 669 to let us know when you can help and your details.   What do the funds that P&C raise go to? P&C funds are used to provide addi onal resources to the school. Previously the P&C have purchased thousands of dollars’ worth of home readers and raised money for contemporary playground equipment.
