OAK won the girls’ 200m medley relay and the 200mfreestyle relay. Marni Oldershaw, Vera Johansson andSharalynn Missiuna were members of both teams. HollyOlsen rounded out the medley relay while Mika Spencerwas part of the freestyle relay.
Earning silver medals was the team of Chetrat,Darragh, Kikot and Samuel in the 15-and-over 200m med-ley relay; Gamio, Hugo Truong, Assaad and Ali Baki in the10-and-under 200m medley relay; and Calvert, Assman,Sasha Bulton and Van Beilen in the 15-and-over 200mfreestyle relay.
Taking bronze medals were Hugo Truong, Ali Baki,Adham Assaad, Marcelo Gamio (10-and-under 200mfreestyle relay); Meredith Johnson, Hannah Burgess,Nicole Bullock, Meghan Clark (11-12 200m freestylerelay); Calvert, Van Beilen, Katie Fox, Erin Assman (15-and-over 200m medley relay); Adam Wood, Bennett Ho,Matthew Mac, Dejan Pajovic (11-12 200m medley relay)and Miguel Lozano, Kikot, Brody Dyson, Samuel (15-and-over 200m freestyle).

Pompey seeks another Pitch, Hit & Run crownA Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run champion
two years ago, Tristan Pompey is after another title thisseason.
Pompey was one of four youngsters to win their agedivisions at the local round of the Pitch, Hit & Run com-petition Saturday at Oakville Little League Field ofDreams, joining Ethan Paulos, Brett Corbeth and MatthewMcKay.
Pompey, who won the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run title forthe 9/10 age group at the 2007 Major League Baseball All-Star Game in San Francisco, won or tied for first in allthree events in 11/12 competition last weekend.
Paulos was the 7/8 champion, Corbeth won the 9/10title and McKay took 13/14 honours.
Jibran Qureshi (7/8 pitching), Griffin Conroy (7/8 hit-ting), Kevin Wycks (9/10 pitching), Andrew Ciufredda(9/10 running), Robert Cant (11/12 pitching), NathanHamel (11/12 pitching) and Aaron Henderson (13/14pitching and running) won individual events.
Overall and event champions qualified for the nextround of competition, sectionals, to be held May 31 inMississauga.
All-around champions at sectionals are eligible to qual-ify for the Toronto Blue Jays team competition in June.Winners at the Rogers Centre have the chance to move onto the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Finals, which will take placeJuly 17 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
STA’s Elliott OFSAA badminton semifinalist
Megan Elliott of St. Thomas Aquinas reached the semi-finals at the Ontario Federation of School AthleticAssociations (OFSAA) badminton championships recentlyin Sudbury.
Elliott won three matches before falling to the eventu-
al silver medalist Jenna Flannigan.Elliott then played Rebecca Zhang,who ended Elliott’s bid for a medal.
Locals help Defensa to gold
Two Oakville residents helped theBurlington-based Defensa girls’ vol-leyball team win the under-16 Tier 1provincial championship last week-end.
Nicolette Serratore, Paige Vukson
and Defensa defeated the DurhamAttack in the provincial finals, prevail-ing by scores of 25-23, 25-21. Defensalost only three matches in U16 playthis entire season, two of those com-ing in the provincial tournament.
Defensa also finished in the top16 at the U17 provincials, losing atight match in the U17 quarter-finals, and won an U18 event earlierthis season.
The team will represent Ontario atthe upcoming national U16 champi-onships in Calgary.
