This exciting investment is going to need a dynamic licensee who can demonstrate all the skills needed to operate a multi-functional operation which includes excellent customer focus with top rate standards, experience in delivering a soft patisserie type food offer, good event and function planning, organisation skills and have all around experience in the hospitality industry.

The Y Pentan aka ‘The Tailors Shed’ is located in the North Wales town of

Mold in Flintshire, situated at the heart of this historic market town just off the

main street, the detached three storey building is one of Mold’s most

imposing buildings. There are frequent daytime bus services from Mold Bus

Station linking services between Chester, Wrexham, Denbigh, Holywell,

Ruthin and other communities.

Mold has a diverse street market every Wednesday and Saturday for fresh

produce and many other goods. The Mold Food & Drink Festival is held each

September. The food festival has a main event area on the edge of the town

centre, and many central and nearby businesses contribute to the event.

Our vision



The pub is well-known as a venue for live music and community-based entertainment. The pub has two trade areas separated by a corridor and circular servery which splits between the traditional regular’s bar and a larger lounge area which is mainly used for entertainment.

We have decided that the business is ready for major investment, this will give both

the licensee and the customers an outlet to be proud of and somewhere that the

local community can feel safe and enjoy the comfort of this very well-known pub.

We need the right person to deliver a shared vision with enthusiasm and personality

that will ultimately give the licensee a fantastic business with great profit margins.

We believe that the bar area should be kept exactly as it is but made even more comfortable with enhanced facilities for the local customer base who currently use the bar and also the new customers who we hope will be attracted when the refurbishment is complete. We appreciate there is already solid customer loyalty, this will be a major consideration when we carry out the proposed refurbishment.

To achieve the above, we are looking at a complete makeover. We would encourage and expect the incoming licensee to have input as to the scheme design and offer opinion on colours, fabrics, layout and features. This really is an opportunity to be totally bought into the re-development programme and come on the journey from planning to inception.

We envisage the lounge area being used as a coffee/ wine bar operation from opening in the afternoon to early evening, offering pastries, cakes, biscuits, baguettes and panini’s then transforming easily into a more entertainment led offer with live entertainment, community based activities and live TV sports where and when appropriate.

The pub will serve a great range of Real Ale, Craft Beer and showcase a superb range of modern wines, spirits and minerals. Inexpensive product will remain the preserve of competitors in Mold with the Tailor’s Shed focusing on the customer searching for a great quality pub experience.
