Holy Spirit Parish Mission Statement
We come together as a diverse and welcoming community to glorify, praise, and give thanks to
God in Christ Jesus. Inspired by God’s Word and the Eucharist, we go forth to serve the needs of our parish and the extended community. We are called through the Holy Spirit to spread the Gospel message and reach out to the poor and oppressed. We are committed to know, understand, and love each other as members of Christ’s body.

Jesus said to him in reply, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.” Jesus told him, “Go your way; your faith has saved you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way.

National Priesthood Sunday Today
Throughout the diocese this weekend, our seminarians are visiting as many parishes as they can to speak about their calling to pursue a vocation to the priesthood or the religious life. Two young men of our Capuchin Formation
Program at Borromeo Seminary will speak briefly at the end of our Masses: Jeremy Perez-Toro and Sam Roberts. Please welcome them and please encourage young men and women of our parish to consider the possibility that God is calling them to serve Him and us.
The Commemoration of the Faithful Departed Sunday, 4 November
10:15 am Mass - Next Sunday
In the Catholic church it is customary to use the entire month of November as days of prayerful remembrance for those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith. At Holy Spirit Church one way we remember is the burning of purple candles beside the tabernacle throughout the month to serve as a visible sign of our ceaseless prayers for our beloved dead. Please use the All Souls envelope found in your packet to have a candle lit in memory of your beloved dead.
If you have buried a loved one from our parish in the past year, you should have received a special invitation to com-memorate your loved one at our family celebration for the deceased of our parish on Sunday, November 4th at the 10:15 Mass.
We hope to see you there and join you in prayerful remem-brance.
Cemetery Sunday sponsored by the Catholic Cemeteries Association
In addition other Masses of remembrance are being celebrat-ed next Sunday at 3:00 pm at these and other locations:
Calvary Cemetery, 10000 Miles Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, with Bishop Roger W. Gries; All Saints Cemetery, 480 West Highland Road, Northfield, Ohio, Nativity Mausoleum, with Fr. Luigi Miola; All Souls Cemetery, 10366 Chardon Road, Chardon, Ohio, with Fr. Jim Caddy. For more locations, please visit https://www.clecem.org/Events/CemeterySunday.aspx
Important Handouts
Please notice important handouts inserted in this week’s bul-letin:
1) guidance and points for reflection by the Catholic Conference of Ohio when choosing to vote on Issue 1 next week;
2) helpful information from our Health Council on the importance of receiving the flu vaccine;
3) and the Holy Spirit Parish calendar of events for No-vember 2018.
A Notice to All High School Students Our parish’s Men of Faith group raises money for various activities and needs. Each year the men make a donation to graduating high school students who are going on to college. The only requirement to be considered for such a grant is that the graduating senior needs to be making a consistent contribution to the life of our parish. Please consider being, for example, an altar server or a volunteer at our Wednesday evening food program. If you need more ideas about ways you can support our parish, just ask.
Pray for our parishioners in the military:

Please remind those who cannot attend Mass for legitimate reasons (poor health, travel, college, military deployment, etc.) that the 10:15 Mass can be viewed through our website. The web address is on the front page of the bulletin. Use any device that has an internet connection.
It’s a great way for members of our community to stay connected to us when they cannot be present.
The video is usually posted some time every Monday. When you see them, please offer a thank you to Walter Moore and Andre Smith who generously give their time and talent to make this service to our community possible.
