PARISH LIFE

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS:

From the First Reading we hear St. Peter telling us that “There is no sal-vation in anyone else” except in the name of Jesus.

In the gospel, John 10:11-18, Jesus states that He is the Good Shepherd. From these readings, we are invited to reflect on the point of salvation: [1] It is Jesus who saves – First Jesus was rejected, killed and rose from the dead. HE now lives forever. He is the cornerstone that was rejected by the builders. HE is the one who has power over and life death. He is the one who was sent by the Father and in turn sent the apostles and now sends all the Baptized to cooperate in the work of Evangelization. [2] The power of salvation – the saving power of Jesus is continued through the minis-try of the Church.

This weekend we pray for Vocations especially to the priesthood and religious life. “I” will also pray for the priest who has had some influence on “me” (who Baptized me, blessed my marriage, baptized my children, heard my confession, celebrated a funeral for my dear one, etc.).
