JuJuJuJuly ly ly ly 10101010, 2011, 2011, 2011, 2011 Dear Parishioners, Pious devotions, whether prayed alone or communally, such as the ones our parish has following the Monday and Tuesday 8am Masses and following nearly every weekday Mass even after the Monday and Tuesday post-Mass pieties,

aren't actual liturgy, and a variety of choices are available. Not only are they all optional, but also how they're done is somewhat variable in that many have been adapted over time and place to accommodate the needs of the people. Devotions are prayed alone or with others and usually, but not exclusively, in church. They're done outside of the Sacred Liturgy, the Mass, and are not to be inserted into the Mass at all -- in other words, not during Mass, except the Litany of Saints on special occasions. They can, however, be said at any public setting, such as a cemetery, an outdoor shrine, or a mausoleum. They need not be presided over by a priest, deacon, or bishop. Fr. Mark

Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Patriotic Rosary for the Consecration of our Nation

Parishioners and friends of Holy Family Parish gathered to pray The Patriotic Rosary for the Consecration of our Nation following the 8 a.m. Mass on Monday July 4

th. The

patriotic rosary begins each decade with a quote from one of our founding fathers, followed by naming one of the fifty states (before each Hail Mary) and praying, “We plead the Blood of Jesus over (the name of the state) and every soul in that state.” At the end of each mystery a patriotic song is sung. Anyone desiring a copy of The Patriotic Rosary to pray at home is encouraged to go on mej.com and follow the link. Special thanks to Eileen Cassidy, above third from the left, for orchestrating the recitation of the Patriotic Rosary here at Holy Family Parish.

Mission Appeal – Holy Family Church July 23 & 24

Fr. Rexlumine, of the charity service organization of the Diocese of Tuticorin, will be speaking at all Masses the weekend of July 23 and 24 regarding the charitable mission of the Diocese of Tuticorin. The following will describe the good works of the Diocese of Tuticorin. Evangelization: In our diocesan area first conversion to Christianity happened in the 1530s. In 1600s there were 6 parishes with a lot of new missions. In 1923 it became a new diocese with 41 parishes. Now we are 108 parishes. Thus we are growing. Still 88% of the people who belong to other religions are to be evangelized. We have our diocesan religious sisters and trained catechists who do direct evangelization. They go and visit the houses in the villages. We do lot of apostolates and charitable works to them which includes both Catholics and non-Catholics. Now we are: Parishes- 108, Missions (sub-stations)-339, Diocesan priests -108, Religious priests-25, Religious brothers-38, Catechists-18, and Diocesan seminarians-115. Our Ministries include: Youth, Vocation, Laity, Pius Associations, Education, Health, Labor, Communication Media, Christian life, and Peace and Justice. Our Apostolate include: Hospitals-13, Dispensaries-9, Home for the disabled-4, Lepers and AIDs home-1, Women rescue home-2, Home for children-28, Crèches for abandoned infants-1, Home for the aged-3, Family counseling center-1,Rehab center for Alcocholic-1, High schools-31, and Elementary schools-198. All

are free service including food and medicine. We serve Catholics

and non-Christians. Since our biggest Catholic population is

living below the poverty line, we face great economic challenges.

It is not easy to support all our priests and seminarians. We

need to upkeep all our ministries and apostolate. Trusting in

God, we keep doing our best. Your generosity allows you

participate in the fruits of their good works.
