Vocations—bearing fruit this year and planting seeds for the future

This parish has a great record of ordaining priests and religious and this summer we will be welcoming one such newbie, Deacon, but soon-to-be Fr. Ryan Casey. He is with the Paulist Fathers. He will be on hand to help cover some Masses while I am doing some of the military training days. Look for the bulletin announcements for that as we get closer, but it will sometime in June. It will be wonderful to welcome him home and for you to get to see him celebrate Mass, help at our Totus Tuus camp and hear confessions. Then we have one of our own being ordained a transitional deacon this September, Nick Sentovich. That too is very exciting! His family and many friends will be traveling to Rome for his ordination. So, continue to keep him in your prayers. Now, we don’t want to rest on our laurels. We need to continue the good work begun in this parish. Toward that end, I’d like you to give some thought about our vocations camps. Okay, for about 97% of you, it’s not going to apply to you personally, but perhaps you know someone who might be a good candidate—whether for the priesthood or to be a religious sister. When asked why someone entered seminary, the number one reason is that someone asked them to. You can be that impetus that leads to a Ryan Casey or a Nick Sentovich answering that call. Think of the impact you can have! Our Diocesan Vocations Camps have been announced for the summer. If you know of someone you think would be interested in attending one of them, don’t hesitate to make them aware of them and encourage them to talk to me about it. These camps and retreats have been proven to be an excellent way to introduce Jr. high, high school and college students to the possibility of God’s call in their lives. The St. Therese Camp and Retreat for young women in 7th grade through college age will take place from June 24 – 27. Jeremiah Days for boys entering 7th to 9th grades is from July 8 – 11. First Call Retreat is for young men entering 10th grade through college and is from July 15 – 18. The cost is only $90. Building Campaign—This is for the last minute shoppers

If you thrive on buying your Christmas presents in the last days before December 25 (or even on Christmas Eve!),

this notice is for you! Chances are you may not have committed yet to the building campaign, wanting to take that also to the very end. Well, this is the weekend to decide! Pledge cards are in the pews for you to make your commitment. I hope that we can count on your support for this exciting chapter in the life of Holy Family. The response has been overwhelming, and I shake my head every time I look at that thermometer. I see in that red all the generosity and all the sacrifice of so many who are committed to this parish, and it warms my heart—as I hope it does yours. But we are still in need of more funds to meet our ambitious goals. So fill out your card today!

How would you like to make a difference in our community by saving someone’s life? The lives of several people? If you would like to be part of the Holy Family KNIGHTS OF CO-LUMBUS Council 13123 in collaboration with the Rock River Valley Blood Center is hosting a BLOOD DRIVE.

Let’s Spring to Life and Give Blood This Season! Last year we saved 84 lives and we want to save more this year.

If it was a long time ago, or if you have not done it before, you will have an opportunity to do so on Monday, May 14th from 2 pm – 7pm. All you have to do is roll up your sleeve and share your precious blood. Each pint of blood you donate can make a huge lifesaving dif-ference for as many as three people. Holy Dusters - Come join us after the 8:30 Mass on the first Monday of the month. We have cleaning supplies and imple-ments with your name! Helpers of all ages are welcome.

May Installation Breakfast will be Thursday, May 3 after the 8:30 Mass in the Family Room. There is a $5.00 charge.

Come join us for the HFWG Spring Shop and Show bus trip to Madison on Saturday, May 19, 2018. We will browse the Farm-ers' Market and then take in the show “On Your Feet!” If you have never been to the Farmers' Market this is your chance and you won't have to find a parking space! $115 for members and $120 for non-members and guests. Living with Depression The next get together will be Friday, May 4, at 1:00 PM in the Hospitality Room. Please join us to continue learning about liv-ing with depression or helping those who suffer from it. If you have any questions please contact Barb at 815-398-4280.

Adult Rosary Group Join us May 3, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in the Msgr. Bales Meet-ing Room, to make rope and bead rosaries. We have had a few new comers and they really enjoy making rosaries. Let us in-struct you how to make a rosary too. If you have any questions please contact Barb at 398-4280.

Coffee/Donut/ Birthday Group We are growing in number and it is beautiful to see parishioners taking time to meet one another and share in their lives. That is what being part of the commu-nity of Holy Family is all about. We hope you can stay and enjoy some coffee, a donut and fellowship after the 8:30 AM Mass on May 10th. Kindergarten "Bring a Friend to School" Day

Will you or someone you know have a child in Kindergarten or First Grade next year? Is Holy Family one

of the schools being considered? Then mark your calendar for Tuesday, April 24th!

Children will be able to take part in our Kindergarten class from 8:20 - 11:30 am. There will also be a spe-

cial program for their parents from 8:30-9:15 am, including a tour of the school and a Q & A session.

Our First Communion Parent/Child Retreat

We have 52 second graders making their First Communion on April 28th. On Thursday, April 12 we had our retreat, and had perfect attend-ance!! Way to go everyone! Please keep these children in your prayers as they continue to prepare to receive our Lord and Savior at the Banquet of Plenty.

Our RE Kindergarten class came forward during our Family Faith Morning & taught us what they learned about prayer. They would write their prayers down and put them in the cross box and would lift the prayers to our Lord. What a beautiful witness these young children are to the power of prayer. Good job you guys!
