Holy Cross Catholic School News January 2017
Virtue: Courage Be brave, do not be led by what others think or say!
St. John Bosco
Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope you enjoyed a good rest with family and friends over the Christmas Break.
We continue with our celebration of the Year of the Parish with the Toronto Catholic District School Board declaring Friday, May 5, 2017 as Parish Family Day.
Ms. Silvi, one of our Early Childhood Educators, transferred to James Culnan Catholic School in November. Over the past year, Ms. Silvi has made a great contribution to the Full Day Kindergarten Program and community of Holy Cross. We wish her the best of luck at her new school. She will be missed at Holy Cross.
Mr. Schnurr, unfortunately, is on leave. I will be filling in for him during his ab-sence. I look forward to working with you and your children as we start the new year. This is a busy school. Please do not hesitate to drop by and say hello.
Happy New Year.

Holy Cross is Allergen Aware!
Please remember that all snacks and lunches for students must be nut free. We have several children in the school with life threatening allergies and we would like to ensure that they are not exposed to dangerous food items.
Snacks should not contain any type of nut product such as peanuts, almonds, cashews, peanut butter, Nutella, etc.
Also, please remind your child to not share his/her snack or lunch.
Let’s all do our part to keep our students safe.

St. Michael Choir School Scouting Message from the Principal—Barry White:
Greetings from St. Michael’s Choir School. As you may know, St Michael’s Choir School has, for 78 years, provided St. Michael’s Cathedral and the Archdiocese of Toronto with sacred music of the highest calibre, sung by boys from Grades 3-12. As part of our work to continue this proud tradition, a scout will soon visit your child’s school to listen to boys in Grades 2 and 3 sing. Should our scout hear a promising voice, he or she will give that child a letter to bring home with information about the Choir School, and an invitation to join us for one of our audition days, which take place in January, February and March every year. At St. Michael’s Choir School, we believe that “he who sings prays twice”, and we are grateful for the opportunity to visit your school in search of boys with a love of music who are in-terested in becoming part of this tradition of service and song. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, January 11 in the morning at Holy Cross.
