INVITE SOMEONE BACK TO CHURCH!!

DEAR PARISHIONERS: This is the time of year when fall sports are gearing up at our grade, high, & college schools. Now is the time for practice after practice. The players have to get condi-tioned for their respective sport & position. They train to be the best they can be. What if we took what we see on the field or on the court or in the gym & apply it to our faith lives? Do we practice our faith as we should? Have we conditioned ourselves to be strong against our opponent, the devil? Are we training each day to be fit when it comes to our faith health? Are we a team player who gives our all for the good of the entire team, the Catholic Church? Have we sweat in our faith, meaning that we have toiled as much as we could have? Sports are a big part of our culture & country. Sports reign supreme, at times. Sports help a lot of young peo-ple, especially, to mature & to be responsible. Wouldn’t it be great to capture that discipline & dedi-cation that sports require & apply it to our Catholic faith? Let us practice, practice, practice our faith this week & every day of our lives. Our training is on-going. It does not stop at the end of a season. Our game plan is to get to heaven by being the best we can be here on earth.

YOUR “TEAMMATE,” FATHER JOE

---------------------- ARRIVEDERCI, GOODBYE, to Deacon Michael. His last day here is this Friday, Aug. 26th. He will have some days off before he heads back to Rome on Sept. 3. What a pleasure it has been to have him here at HF for the past 2 months. He has enriched us with his homilies, his pastoral care, & his humor. His smile is contagious. He will be ordained on May 27, 2017, at the Cathedral in Spfld. Mark that down on your calendars now so that you can join him & his family for that wonderful celebra-tion. We ask God to protect you, bless you, & embrace you, Deacon Michael. Thank you for all you have done for us at Holy Family Parish. We’ll miss you lots!

YEAR OF MERCY REFLECTION FOR August 20/21

Here comes everybody. The entry to the kingdom of God, to heaven is described as passage through a narrow gate. But the path to it is pretty wide. It has to be, because this roadway has room for the nations of every language, sisters and brothers from every-where. This is our pilgrimage – helping one another on the path to the kingdom, to our final home, to God.

• Who will be my companions this week? • Who needs my help down this common road to

heaven?

ADORATION on Thursdays at Holy Family will resume in September!
