M A I N A T T R A C T I O N SMain AttractionsWhat main films will play at the Hiway? Predicting in advance what films will play at our beloved one-screen Hiway is the biggest challenge that we face. It is very hard to know ahead of time. The films listed here are an educated guess. Our website is always the best place to get up-to-the-minute information.Scheduling our main films is week-to-week. On Monday, we decide what main film will play starting that Friday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we set the showtimes for the upcoming week and then update our website and telephone hotline. We also send out a weekly email (sign up at our website). Sometimes, we book a main film a few weeks in advance, which we post on our website. For our latest Main Attractions plans, visit: HiwayTheater.org. (Or call our Hotline at 267-864-0065) Sully

The Birth of a Nation USA - Nate Parker - 1 hr 57 min Nate Parker’s film about the Nat Turner slave rebellion is one of the most talked about films of the year. Parker wrote, directed, and stars in the story of a man born into slavery, who became a preacher and then led an uprising in 1831 in Virginia. Fearless filmmaking from a fresh new voice, THE BIRTH OF A NATION is gripping and moving. A must see cinematic event.

Denial UK - Mick Jackson - 1 hr 50 min Acclaimed playwright David Hare wrote the powerful screenplay for this legal thriller. Based on the real life case of an American historian who was sued for libel after accusing a British author of Holocaust denial. Starring Rachel Weisz, Tom Wilkinson and Timothy Spall.

Loving USA - Jeff Nichols - 2 hr 3 minThis film, which had a celebrated premiere at Cannes, is the true story of interracial couple Richard and Mildred Loving who fought for their right to marry in 1950s Virginia. Their long legal case went all the way to the Supreme Court and overturned Virginia’s law prohibiting interracial marriage in 1967. It’s a powerful, well-acted film starring Joel Edgerton, Ruth Negga, and Michael Shannon.

Classic ThursdaysThe Hiway Theater has a new year-round film series: Classic Thursdays. We will have a classic film every other Thursday night.

Dates subject to change. Due to the fact that we are a single screen theater, we occasionally must postpone special classic screenings. This happens due to unavoidable contractual obligations with our distributors. Any change will be announced at least a week ahead of time, and will result in pushing the date forward or back one week. So before you come, please check our website or hotline for confirmation.

Why? Because that’s how the movie biz works. Believe us, we wouldn’t have this “subject to change” policy if we didn’t have to. (If we made the rules, we’d show 3 or 4 different films every week!) But that’s not how the movie business works, so we must be flexible in programing these special titles. All things considered, this is the best way to bring you the most varied programming possible.

Stay up to date by email. The best way to stay aware of everything happening at the Hiway is to get our weekly email. You can sign up right from our website. Each week, we will let you know about the Hiway’s upcoming films and events. We’ll also let you know about the screenings at our sister theater, the Ambler, which members can attend for the same member price as the Hiway.

Ticket prices for Classic Thursdays. Our normal ticket prices apply to Classic Thursdays, except for young cineastes: patrons 18 and younger will only be charged an admission of $3 for this series.
