Highway 15 through downtown

• Pavement resurfacing of Highway 15 between 5th Ave S and just south of Denver Ave

• Update sidewalk and pedestrian crossings along project area to meet Americans with Disabilities (ADA) standards

• Smoother road surface

• Modernize sanitary sewer, water main and storm sewer

• Help ensure city and state infrastructure serves their purpose for many years

• The City of Hutchinson views this project as an opportunity to enhance downtown and improve livibility in the central district

Explanation and Plan:• This project provides an opportunity for the

City of Hutchinson to enhance downtown and improve livability in the central district.

• Reuse quality products such as light poles and benches.

• Build upon existing themes such as arch designs through the city and utilizing the concept of portable planter pots.

Design Intent:• Extended curb cuts aka “bump outs” will be

introduced at select intersections.- Improves safety for pedestrians crossing the

street.

• 32” wide color band (same as existing)- The color will remain consistent with existing

color in downtown area.- The texture will not be the same, a different

texture and jointing pattern will be introduced in these areas.

• Movable planter pots- These planter pots can be relocated in the winter

months to allow for snow removal.- Planter pot designs, shapes, and sizes will be

reviewed during future project development and presented this fall.

• Movable planter pots- Rectangular planters are proposed, in addition to

the current type of planter pots, to be set along the back of the walk next to buildings at identifi ed locations

- Rectangular planters will be variable height to avoid blocking window fronts

- Rectangular planters and planter pots can be relocated in the winter months to allow for snow removal

- Rectangular planters and planter pot designs and sizes will be reviewed during future project development.
