Health Care

Extended support to KGH in the form of supply of steel at free of cost to

construct a multistoried hospital complex, which consists of oncology block,

surgery wards, and department of Orthopedics Anesthesia etc. at KGH

premises. Out of the total commitment i.e, ` 2 crores for supply of steel, `1.0 Cr

worth steel of various sizes has been dispatched during the month. This will

be used in the foundation works of the multistoried complex being

constructed at KGH. RINL has joined along with other PSU’s in the endeavor

of construction of multistoried hospital complex at KGH premises at a cost of

Rs. 80 Cr to strengthen the infrastructure facilities at KGH which was built

during the British regime.

Expanding its reach for eye care, one eye camp was conducted in the

Nadumveedhi a tribal village of Paderu in Visakhapatnam District where

RINL is addressing the total sanitation needs to bring the overall development

in the tribal village.

Further five Eye camps were organized at surrounding villages of Plant Viz

Chinna Nadupuru, Nellimukku, Bhonijithota, Kondayyavalasa,

Pedamushidavada through ‘Netra Jyothi’ mobile van and carried out eye

tests for 471 villagers. Further free cataract surgeries were carried out for the

eligible beneficiaries.

Education

“Shiksha”: Free education is being provided to around 1800 BPL children

belonging to the surrounding villages of Plant & Mines through various schools.

Two Personal computers were provided to the orphan children adopted by Sai

Seva Trust to meet the educational needs. Director (Personnel) handed over the

computers to the beneficiaries at Ukkunagaram.

Project for providing a food distribution vehicle and food distribution vessels

to Akshaypatra Foundation was taken up with a motto to feed the poor &

hungry children across Government schools in Visakhapatnam district.

Skill Enhancement

“Kaushal”: Placement based skill development programme for 200 SC youth

was taken up through National Scheduled Caste Finance & Development

Corporation (NSFDC) through Apparel Training Division Centre (ATDC),

Visakhapatnam, a unit of Ministry of Textiles, Govt. Of India. Out of the 139

beneficiaries who have successfully completed training till date, 113

beneficiaries have been offered jobs in various apparel making divisions in

Visakhapatnam.

Classes going on at Vadlapudi Beneficiaries employed at Volta Fashions

“Saksham”: Vocational training programme for 275 beneficiaries belonging to

the surrounding villages of Jaggayyapeta Lime Stone Mines has been taken up

.Beneficiaries have been identified and the training in Dress making, Fabric

Painting, two wheeler mechanism, Plumbing, car driving, computer basics,

cloth bags, basket making and beauty culture courses will commence from 1st

week of June.

Peripheral Development Roof sheeting work for Hudhud cyclone affected houses in slum areas of

Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation has been taken up through the funds

provided by NMDC. Fixing of Roof sheeting works are under progress in the

48th & 60th ward of GVMC i.e. Sriharipuram & Gajuwaka respectively.

Sanitation

“Swachh Gram “: A project to address the sanitation needs i.e supply of

drinking water through Solar power and construction of household toilets

have been taken up in “Nadumuveedhi” a tribal village of Visakhapatnam

district. The solar powered drinking water system has been installed and

commissioned. The construction of 45 toilets are under progress. Works up to

the basement level are completed in 22 toilets and up to roof level in 23 toilets.

“Swachh Visakha”: Fabrication and painting works of the Dumper Bins are

completed. These bins will be handed over to GVMC to place them in the

surrounding villages of VSP for better waste management and improve the

sanitation levels.

The repair works for the Chapelapalem RO water plant, damaged due to

Hudhud cyclone, has been completed and the plant is put into operation for

utilization by the residents.

Swachh Bharat

A fortnight long Swachta drive “Swachh Bharat Pakhwada” was observed

from 1st May to 15th May, 2016. During the fortnight a plethora of activities like

Swachhta walkathon, Poster & Slogan competition, Swachhta Rath for

awareness building amongst the communities, Zero plastic campaign etc.

were conducted. The Pakwada witnessed extensive participation at all lveles.

A detailed report on the Swachh Bharat Pakhwada was uploaded in the

website of Ministry of Water & Sanitation.
