Automated External Defibrillator is located near office door. Look for overhead AED sign. Phone is on the adjacent wall. To call for help, press an outside line and dial 911. A second AED is located on the lower level across from the drinking fountain.

Online Prayer ChainOur e-mail prayer chain has proven to be a source of comfort to many. If you have a prayer request for a family member, a friend or for yourself, just send me an e-mail and as soon as it is on its way, over 200 members of our church will be praying for you. It’s what we do, right? Or perhaps there’s a new baby or other blessed event you’d like us to join you in giving thanks to God for. Maybe you are not presently receiving prayer requests and would like to be included in this ministry. Whatever....just send me an e-mail at [email protected] to take advantage of this valued ministry of our church. -Pat Kitner

Many, many thanks for all those tabs that keep appearing in my mail-box or in that little green bag on the hutch outside the church office. I even found a huge bag of them on the little table outside my front door. Such a simple way to help out families who have an ill child at Central DuPage Hospital. Families can stay at the RMH for a small fee or gratis while their child is hospitalized. What a blessing! Again, this project continues on until infinity, and beyond. Truthfully, gath-ering these little tabs is addicting. I find myself picking them up off the sidewalk or anywhere else I find them. I just can’t let them be thrown in the garbage when they can be of so much help. Thank you, thank you, thank you! -Pat Kitner, St. Charles Golden K Kiwanis Club

Memorial Service for Hugh and Virginia Cole

A memorial service for Hugh and Virginia Cole is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, October 13, 3pm, here in our sanctuary. Vir-ginia died last fall, and Hugh died on August 19. The Coles were long-time members of our church, and were very active in its leader-ship. After retirement, they moved to a senior living home in Mentor, Ohio, to be near their daughters. Their cremains will be inured in Rodgers Memorial Garden alongside those of their son, Tim.

Joy of Sharing Cookbook

Did you enjoy the Walking Tacos shared by the Women’s Fellowship last week in coffee fellowship? Well, you’ll find that recipe on page 135 of the new “Joy of Sharing” cookbook. You don’t have one yet? Never fear! Stop in the church office and pick up one. Still only $15 cash, or check made payable to Women’s Fellowship. This was a favorite of our Mrs. G (Fran Gustafson) whose birthday is today, September 30. Had she lived, she would have been 104 years old today. We will always miss this wonderful woman.

We welcome all women of the church to join us.This month after our business meeting , we are looking forward to hosting Dr. Steve Holtsford who is the Medical Director at Lighthouse Recovery (www.lighthouserecov-eryinc.com) which is an outpatient substance abuse clinic in downtown St. Charles. It’s been open for 2.5 years. The clinic provides outpatient treatment for people suffering from Sub-stance Use Disorders (alcohol, opiates, stimulants, sedatives etc.) Dr. Holtsford’s role is most concentrated on the patients with OUD (opiate use disorder) because those are the pa-tients that benefit most from prescribed medications. Global Refugees More Than 1/2 are Children

Today, 1 in every 113 people has been forced to flee their home because of conflict, violence, and persecu-tion. Many have become refugees - people who fled not only their homes, but their home countries. More than 1/2 are children. - from the United Nations High Commission for RefugeesWhat can we do to help? The local organization, World Relief/Aurora which opened its doors in 1999, serves refugees and immigrants from around the world with a comprehensive range of services. These displaced men, women, and children now living in Kane and DuPage Counties are in need of our continuing support. On Sunday, September 9, you will find a clothesline attached to the tent outside where our worship service will take place. On the clothesline are specific items designated by World Relief/Aurora that are very much needed to support these refugees and immigrants. Many of them are school supplies for the children, others are household items, as well as gift cards. In addition, check to see if you or anyone you know has these (ONLY THESE) requested gently used furni-ture & household items:• Small kitchen tables ( 2 - 4 seats)• Kitchen chairs• Coffee tables• Love seats/Living room chairs• Kitchen knife sets• Box or window fansPlease place items in the Matthew coat closet no later than October 12. “... just as you did it to the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me. ~ Jesus/Matthew 25:40With great thanks,The Mission Committee

November 16th: WE ARE ALL COMPLETELY BESIDE OURSELVES by Karen Joy Fowler; discussion at the home of Mila and Mark EnglertThe New York Times bestselling author of The Jane Austen Book Club introduces a middle-class American family, ordi-nary in every way but one... Meet the Cooke family: Mother and Dad, brother Lowell, sister Fern, and Rosemary, who begins her story in the middle. She has her reasons. “I was raised with a chimpanzee,” she explains. “I tell you Fern was a chimp and already you aren’t thinking of her as my sister. But until Fern’s expulsion...she was my twin, my fun house mir-ror, my whirlwind other half and I loved her as a sister.” As a child, Rosemary never stopped talking. Then, something hap-pened, and Rosemary wrapped herself in silence. In We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, Karen Joy Fowler weaves her most accomplished work to date—a tale of loving but fallible people whose well intentioned actions lead to heartbreaking consequences.

BEFORE NOON

SEE WHAT YOU DID? My greeting to Mark Molloy at our Fall Fest on Saturday afternoon, September 8. And his response – I hope that was a compliment and not a criticism! You betcha!

It was nine or ten years ago at a staff-board-commit-tee Saturday morning planning meeting when we were all throwing out suggestions. Mark was Coun-cil President at the time. There were around 50 of us there. And one of his suggestions was for a gathering in the fall whereby church members as well as resi-dents of Fox Mill and anyone else could get together for a bit of bonding over food, games, and music.

Who would have dreamed it could have turned into the happening we just experienced at Fall Fest? Kudos to Mark for this vision of his which, this year, culminated into a Sunday morning outdoor wor-ship service under the tent, overlooking the pond under bright blue September skies.

See what you did, Mark? Thank you, kind sir.~Pat Kitner

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the second Monday of each month in the church parlor from 10am until noon. Our next meeting is Oct. 8th. little harder.

Annual Christmas Pageant

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! On December 16th, the Sunday School children will be asked to participate in a Christmas Pageant directly after church. Rehearsals will take place after church on December 9th.

Every Sunday beginning in mid October until December 16th, the kids will practice songs during Sunday School that will be sung during the Christmas Pageant. These songs will go home with the kids so that they can practice at home as well. We will have speaking parts, mentor parts, ticket collectors, singers, kids in costumes etc. The more participation from the kids the better!

If you would like your child to be apart of this show just make sure that your child is at church on December 9th and/or December 16th. All members of the congregation are encouraged to attend and sing along during the magical performance.

If you have questions or would like to be involved, please email Kim Arneson at [email protected].
