Erez van Ham has over 15 years of experience in strategy, planning, finance, and negotiation.   He has worked in the Insurance, Banking, TV, and technology industry, in Canada, Japan, and Singapore.   He is currently the Director of Planning, Strategy, and Special Projects, Global Distribution at BlackBerry.   He has established a planning process and rhythm, worked on country and regional strategies, and helped plan for and execute large scale global deals.

Keeping Focused on your Plan, in Good Times and in Bad.Over the past number of years BlackBerry has seen exponential growth and decline—and sometimes both based on the region being looked at.   This growth and decline has come with its share of challenges and frustrations.   One of the biggest challenges has been ensuring that there is a focus on solid planning and execution.   This session will offer some suggestions on keeping focused, efficient, and effective in a fast changing international environment.

Erez Van HamDirector, Strategy, Global DistributionBlackberry

Melinda K. Painter currently serves as Director Supply Chain Social Responsibility and Diversity at BlackBerry. In this role she is establishing the course and platform for a World Class Social Responsibility and Diversity Program. She led a global team in sourcing and negotiations for components to support Dell and their manufacturing partners facilities worldwide.

Incorporating Diversity and Social Responsibility into the Supply Chain

As Corporate Supply Chains have become more complex and have grown globally, it is critical that there is a   focus on social responsibility.   This component must be woven into their supply chain strategy.   BlackBerry understands the importance of an ethical supply chain for both the greater good, as well driving a competitive advantage for our business.   A strong social responsibility program will open up new markets and expand the customer base for our products. This presentation will provide an overview of the process BlackBerry followed to establish their program as well as some critical success factors.

The Digital NetworkThe way we consume filmed entertainment has shifted from from same-time, same-day tune-in to on-demand viewing. Recent technology allows nearly anyone to create filmed entertainment content and to distribute it via the Web. The digital network, as an alternative to traditional broadcast and cable television networks, is emerging as a platform for discovering and accessing this new world of content. Establishing strategies and procedures for obtaining rights from content creators and contributors, branding and marketing the network and content, global distribution of content, and content monetization, among others things, require learning from the past while accommodating, and attempting to predict, the future of entertainment.

Air traffic controll ing digital goods: Production Planning in virtual economy based online communities

Online communities where digital goods are the lifeblood of a vibrant economy within that community demand a highly disciplined planning process to ensure the right goods are being produced at the right time for the right segments. Feedback channels from the community and data analytics systems both equally inform a smart process of selecting the right SKUs for production, as well as developing the next gen goods for design and creation. In this session, we will explore best practices of running a virtual goods online community, with particular focus on production efficiencies and optimizations, proper balancing of virtual goods supply and demand within an economy, and what indicators to monitor as you manage your production process.

Developing Gizmos for a Non-Gizmo World

Pervasive technology and the consumer experience are converging like never before, disrupting each and every industry ensuring all companies become technology companies. The ability to translate a company's experience into a product has become a necessity. And anymore, it's not just the device—it's building an experience, a brand, and a pipeline of products. Understanding the product development and new product introduction processes, timelines, and costs are essential as we continue to see a boom in "technology" organizations.   Brian Thorngate of Synapse will guide you through some of the emerging difficulties in the evolving landscape, specifically looking at the creation of Product Requirements Documents and New Product Introduction plans to enable the delivery of consumer experiences.
