The Holophane HMS2 High Mast® system is easily the most simple and versatile on the market. Flexible, functional and completely safe, the system can be used with a choice of two modern luminaire types offering total flexibility of light distribution. The latching raise and lower system utilises heavy duty stainless steel cables allowing all maintenance to be carried out at ground level using a bespoke portable elevation cart. The extended remote control facility permits the operator to stand at a safe distance from the base of the column and also provides the operator to vary the speed of the lantern ring lowering operation.

specification

The luminaire shall consist of a extruded heat sink manufactured from 6063-T5 aluminium which allows for superior thermal management. The channel, endplates and driver tray are manufactured from steel treated and then painted to ensure corrosion resistance. The optical arrangement consists of precision formed optics utilising 97+% reflective Alanod® MIRO-SILVER® specular-aluminium coupled with a diffuse acrylic lens to provide glare control and protect the LEDs. Access to gear compartment is via the removable tray which utilises plugable harnesses to allow easy access to key electrical components.

Seattle Medium Flood

Two-piece diecast aluminium body and door frame with a maximum depth of 172mm, housing all integral control gear for a variety of high intensity discharge lamps. Hinged body & door, tool-less access and IP65 sealed. The luminaire complies with EN60598 and is mounted to lantern carriage ring via M16 nut & bolt fixing through luminaire stirrup. Supplied painted in RAL7053 with option of corrosive environment enhanced paint finish.

performance

L92 lumen maintenance at 60,000 hours; predicted life of more than 100,000 hours (L70). Thermally protected driver(s) standard with 0-10V dimming. LEDs are driven at 350mA (nominal) to provide optimal lumens per watt and less heat to extend component life.

controls

With the option of a simple plug and play control connection for 1-10V dimming, Proteon is fully compatible with the Holophane HOLOS2 controls package. To find out more please visit www.holophane.co.uk

headframe & mast specification

The Holophane HMS2 High Mast System consists of a fixed headframe, top latching lantern carriage ring for luminaire mounting complete with electrical distribution box and ground test socket, lockable MCB switchbox in base of the column and foundation cage. Holophane recognises the importance to provide full technical support and to provide all necessary information when selecting High Mast. Please refer to your local Holophane sales engineer for full details.

positive fail-safe latching

The lantern carriage ring is fully supported by the fixed headframe at the top of the column once raised and in normal operation. Its weight is supported via three high-strength suspension plates thus leaving the stainless steel raise & lower cables totally stress-free, ensuring long cable life.

raise and lower system

The luminaire mounting ring is raised and lowered by means of 3 heavy-duty stainless steel cables. Lantern carriage ring stability throughout the raise/lower operation is ensured by three shock-absorbing spring assemblies, allowing safe operation of the raise and lower system in up to 111km/h winds.

ground level maintenance

A weatherproof power socket mounted on the luminaire ring enables the system to be energised and tested at ground level. The normal mast electrical supply is used for this purpose without the requirement for additional extension cables. There is no electromechanical disconnect at the top of the column and therefore all maintenance is carried out at ground level.

elevation cart with remote control

The portable elevation cart can be used to service a whole site. It consists of a motor driven winch and variable speed remote control which together are used to elevate & lower the lantern carriage ring during maintenance. As the winch is not in the column it is not subject to the same conditions as the mast thus prolonging its life and reducing the number of components to inspect.

map of permitted installation sites

The following map should only be used as a reference tool. Final installation site

suitability should always be determined by a chartered civil engineer given the

information in the above table!

Suitability is based on Terrain Category Type II (REF: BS EN 1991-1-4).

HMS2 technical data

The following information should be provided to the contractor or civil engineer for site suitability analysis and foundation design. Holophane Europe Ltd will take no responsibility for the foundation design and structural sign-off.

Important: Please check with civil engineer for intallation suitability in terrain category 0 & i (coastal, flat & mountainous regions ref: BS EN 1991-1-4).
