4 EXPORT LAWASSURANCESYou agree and certify that neither the Softwarenor any other technical data received fromPioneer, nor the direct product thereof, will beexported outside the country or district (the“Country”) governed by the government havingjurisdiction over you (the “Government”) ex-cept as authorised and as permitted by the

laws and regulations of the Government. If theSoftware has been rightfully obtained by yououtside of the Country, you agree that you willnot re-export the Software nor any other tech-nical data received from Pioneer, nor the di-rect product thereof, except as permitted bythe laws and regulations of the Governmentand the laws and regulations of the jurisdic-tion in which you obtained the Software.

5 TERMINATIONThis Agreement is effective until terminated.You may terminate it at any time by destroyingthe Software. The Agreement also will termi-nate if you do not comply with any terms orconditions of this Agreement. Upon such ter-mination, you agree to destroy the Software.

6 MISCELLANEOUSThis is the entire Agreement between Pioneerand you regarding its subject matter. Nochange in this Agreement shall be effectiveunless agreed to in writing by Pioneer. If anyprovision of this Agreement is declared invalidor unenforceable, the remaining provisions ofthis Agreement shall remain in full force andeffect.

END USER LICENSE AGREEMENTPLEASE READ THIS END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT CAREFUL BEFORE USING THE HERE DATABASE

NOTICE TO THE USERTHIS IS A LICENSE AGREEMENT - AND NOT AN AGREEMENT FOR SALE - BETWEEN YOU AND HERE B.V. FOR YOUR COPY OF THE HERE NAVIGABLE MAP DATABASE, INCLUDING ASSOCIATED COMPUTER SOFTWARE, MEDIA AND EXPLANATORY PRINTED DOCUMENTATION PUBLISHED BY HERE (JOINTLY “THE DATABASE”). BY USING THE DATABASE, YOU ACCEPT AND AGREE TO ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT (“AGREEMENT”). IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, PROMPTLY RETURN THE DATABASE, ALONG WITH ALL OTHER ACCOMPANYING ITEMS, TO YOUR SUPPLIER FOR A REFUND.

OWNERSHIPThe Database and the copyrights and intellectual property or neighboring rights therein are owned by HERE or its licensors. Ownership of the media on which the Database is contained is retained by HERE and/or your supplier until after you have paid in full any amounts due to HERE and/or your supplier pursuant to this Agreement or similar agreement(s) under which goods are provided to you.

LICENSE GRANTHERE grants you a non-exclusive license to use the Database for your personal use or, if applicable, for use in your business’ internal operations. This license does not include the right to grant sub-licenses.

LIMITATIONS ON USEThe Database is restricted for use in the specific system for which it was created. Except to the extent explicitly permitted by mandatory laws (e.g. national laws based on the European Software Directive (91/250) and the Database Directive (96/9)), you may not extract or reutilize substantial parts of the contents of the Database nor reproduce, copy, modify, adapt, translate, disassemble, decompile, reverse engineer any portion of the Database. If you wish to obtain interoperability information as meant in (the national laws based on) the European Software Directive, you shall grant HERE reasonable opportunity to provide said information on reasonable terms, including costs, to be determined by HERE.

TRANSFER OF LICENSE You may not transfer the Database to third parties, except when installed in the system for which it was created or when you do not retain any copy of the Database, and provided that the transferee agrees to all terms and conditions of this Agreement and confirms this in writing to HERE. Multi-disc sets may only be transferred or sold as a complete set as provided by HERE and not as subset thereof.

LIMITED WARRANTYHERE warrants that, subject to the warnings set out below, for a period of 12 months after acquisition of your copy of the Database, it will perform substantially in accordance with HERE’s Criteria for Accuracy and Completeness existing on the date you acquired the Database; these criteria are available from HERE at your request. If the Database does not perform in accordance with this limited warranty, HERE will use reasonable efforts to repair or replace your non-conforming copy of the Database. If these efforts do not lead to performance of the Database in accordance with the warranties set out herein, you will have the option to either receive a reasonable refund of the price you paid for the Database or to rescind this Agreement. This shall be HERE’s entire liability and your sole remedy against HERE. Except as expressly provided in this section, HERE does not warrant nor make any representations regarding the use of results of the use of the Database in terms of its correctness, accuracy, reliability, or otherwise. HERE does not warrant that the Database is or will be error free. No oral or written information or advice provided by HERE, your supplier or any other person shall create a warranty or in any way increase the scope of the limited warranty described above. The limited warranty set forth in this Agreement does not affect or prejudice any statutory legal rights that you may have under the legal warranty against hidden defects.If you did not acquire the Database from HERE directly, you may have statutory rights against the person from whom you have acquired the Database in addition to the rights granted by HERE hereunder according to the law of your jurisdiction. The above warranty of HERE shall not affect such statutory rights and you may assert such rights in addition to the warranty rights granted herein.

CAUTIONWhen a route is calculated, the route and voiceguidance for the route are automatically set.Also, for day or time traffic regulations, only infor-mation about traffic regulations applicable at thetime when the route was calculated is consid-ered. One-way streets and street closures maynot be taken into consideration. For example, if astreet is open during the morning only, but youarrive later, it would be against the traffic regula-tions so you cannot drive along the set route.When driving, please follow the actual trafficsigns. Also, the system may not know some traf-fic regulations.

Before using your navigation system, be sureto read and fully understand the followingsafety information:! Read the entire manual before operating

this navigation system.! This navigation system may in certain cir-

cumstances display inaccurate position ofyour vehicle, the distance of objects shownon the screen, and compass directions. Inaddition, the system has certain limita-tions, including the inability to identify one-way streets, temporary traffic restrictionsand potentially unsafe driving areas. Pleaseexercise your own judgement in the light ofactual driving conditions.

! The navigation features of your navigationsystem (and rear view camera option if pur-chased) are intended solely as an aid toyou in the operation of your vehicle. It isnot a substitute for your attentiveness, jud-gement, and care when driving.

! Certain country and government laws mayprohibit or restrict the placement and useof this system in your vehicle. Please com-ply with all applicable laws and regulationsregarding the use, installation and opera-tion of your navigation system.

! Do not operate this navigation system (orthe rear view camera option if purchased) ifdoing so will divert your attention in anyway from the safe operation of your vehicle.Always observe safe driving rules and fol-

! Route and guidance information displayedby this equipment is for reference purposesonly. It may not accurately reflect the latestpermissible routes, road conditions, oneway streets, road closures, or traffic restric-tions.

! Traffic restrictions and advisories currentlyin force should always take precedenceover guidance given by the navigation sys-tem. Always obey current traffic restric-tions, even if the navigation systemprovides contrary advice.

! Failure to set correct information about thelocal time may result in the navigation sys-tem providing improper routing and gui-dance instructions.

! Never set the volume of your navigationsystem so high that you cannot hear out-side traffic and emergency vehicles.

! The data encoded in the built-in memory isthe intellectual property of the provider, andthe provider is responsible for such con-tent.

! Keep this manual handy as a reference foroperating procedures and safety informa-tion.

! Pay close attention to all warnings in thismanual and follow the instructions care-fully.

! Please remember to wear your seat belt atall times while operating your vehicle. Ifyou are in an accident, your injuries can beconsiderably more severe if your seat beltis not properly fastened.

Fuel cost managementThese calculations are based only on the infor-mation that you provide and not on any datafrom the vehicle. The fuel mileage displayed isonly a reference value, and does not guaranteethe fuel mileage displayed can be obtained.

Traffic information! Pioneer does not bear responsibility for the

accuracy of the information transmitted.! Pioneer does not bear responsibility for

changes to information services providedby broadcasting stations or by related com-panies, such as cancellation of services orchanging to pay-services. Also, we do notaccept return of the product for this rea-son.

Speed limit indicationThe speed limit is based on the map database.The speed limit in the database may notmatch the actual speed limit of the currentroad. This is not a definite value. Be sure todrive according to the actual speed limit.

Lorry navigationp This function is only available on AVIC-

F160.! Based on the dimensions and other en-

tered parameters of your vehicle, this sys-tem warns you when you are approachinga restricted road segment or such roadsmust be used in your route.

! Warnings are both visual and audible.There are different kinds of warnings:! When approaching a restricted road

segment without a route, you arewarned that there is a restricted areaahead.

! Restricted road segments are excludedfrom your routes but in some casessome restricted roads need to be used

to reach the given destination. In thiscase you receive a warning and youmust accept that you have restrictedroads in your route or you can stop thenavigation and continue without an ac-tive route.

p Please note that lorry navigation is only asaccurate and comprehensive as the restric-tions received with the map. Restrictionsmay not cover lower priority roads and inmost cases the coverage changes as youmove around your map region. You are ob-liged to always obey the restrictions dis-played on the road.

Additional safety informationTo avoid battery exhaustionBe sure to run the vehicle engine while usingthis product. Using this product without run-ning the engine can drain the battery.

WARNINGDo not install this product in a vehicle that doesnot have an ACC wire or circuitry available.

Handling the SD card slotThe SD memory card and SDHC memory cardare collectively referred to as the “SD memorycard”.

CAUTION! Keep the SD memory card out of the reach of

small children to prevent them from acciden-tally swallowing it.

! Ejecting an SD memory card during datatransfer can damage the SD memory card. Besure to eject the SD memory card by the pro-cedure described in this manual.

! To prevent data loss and damage to the sto-rage device, never remove it from this naviga-tion system while data is being transferred.

On first-time startupWhen you use the navigation system for thefirst time, an initial setup process starts auto-matically. Follow the steps below.

1 Start the engine to boot up the system.

2 Wait approximately 10 seconds, andthen press the MODE button of the AV re-ceiver.After a short pause, the navigation splashscreen appears.

3 Set the video output selector switch ac-cording to your AV receiver.

Checking the detailed informationabout the current positionYou can get the detailed information about thecurrent position (or about the last known posi-tion if GPS reception is not available) from the“Where Am I?” screen. You can also searchfor useful Points Of Interest (POI) nearby onthe screen. Follow the steps below to open the“Where Am I?” screen.

Browsing the data fieldThe data fields are different when you are navi-gating the current route and when you haveno specified destination (the orange line is notdisplayed). The data field provides the follow-ing information.! When the route is set:

Distance to final destination, time neededto reach the final destination and estimatedarrival time

! When the route is not set:Current speed, speed limit of the currentroad and current time

p The estimated time of arrival is an idealvalue calculated based on the value set for“Max. Speed” and the actual drivingspeed. The estimated time of arrival is onlya reference value, and does not guaranteearrival at that time.= For details, refer to Setting the vehicle

parameters on page 42.p You can change the value by touching and

holding any of the fields.

Display during motorwaydrivingIn certain locations of the motorway, lane in-formation is available, indicating the recom-mended lane to be in to easily manoeuvre thenext guidance.

Lane information

While driving on the motorway, motorway exitnumbers and motorway signs may be dis-played in the vicinity of interchanges andexits.If you are approaching a complex intersectionand the needed information exists, the map isreplaced with a 3D view of the junction.

Smart ZoomYour navigation system features “Smart Zoom”

that works in two ways:! When the route is set:

When approaching a turn, it will zoom inand raise the view angle to let you easily re-cognise your manoeuvre at the next junc-tion. It the next turn is at a distance, it willzoom out and lower the view angle to beflat so you can see the road in front of you.

! When the route is not set:“Smart Zoom” will zoom in if you driveslowly and zoom out when you drive athigh speed.

Switching the map orientationYou can switch how the map shows your vehi-cle’s direction between “Heading up” and“North up”.! Heading up:

The map display always shows the vehicle’sdirection as proceeding toward the top ofthe screen.

Thus, the infor-mation may not correspond with a certaintraffic regulation when your vehicle actuallypasses through the location in question.Also, the information on the traffic regula-tions provided applies for a passenger vehi-cle, and not for a truck or other deliveryvehicles. Always follow the actual trafficregulations when driving.

Searching for a location byaddressThe most frequently used function is “FindAddress”, in which the address is specifiedand the location is searched.p Depending on the search results, some

Setting the route calculationThese settings determine how routes will becalculated. Select the type of vehicle you aredriving, the road types used in route planning,and the route planning method.





4 Touch the setting item.! Navigation Mode:

On-road navigation creates a turn by turnitinerary using the road network on themap. Switch to off-road navigation to navi-gate between destinations in a straight line.

! Route Planning Method:The route calculation can be optimised fordifferent situations and vehicle types bychanging the planning method.! Fast:

Calculates a route with the shortest tra-vel time to your destination as a priority.Usually the best selection for fast andnormal cars.

! Green:Calculates a quick but fuel efficientroute based on the fuel consumptiondata given in Route settings. Travel costand CO2 emission calculations are esti-mations only. They cannot take eleva-tions, curves and traffic conditions intoaccount.p This item does not appear when the

vehicle profile is set to “DefaultLorry”.

! Short:Calculates a route with the shortest dis-tance to your destination as a priority.Usually practical for pedestrians, cy-clists or slow vehicles. Searching for ashort route regardless of the speed, this

route type is rarely practical for normalvehicles.

! Economical:For vehicle types where “Green” routingis not available, this method combinesthe benefits of “Fast” and “Short”. Thissystem calculates as if it were calculat-ing the “Fast” route, but it takes otherroads as well to save fuel.p This item is available for AVIC-F160

only.! Easy:

Results in a route with fewer turns andno difficult manoeuvres. With this op-tion, you can make this system to take,for example, the motorway instead of aseries of smaller roads or streets.

Changing road types usedTo recalculate the current route with differentroad type preferences, follow the steps below.p To let the route fit your needs, you can also

set which road types are to be consideredfor or to be excluded from the route if possi-ble. Excluding a road type is a preference. Itdoes not necessarily mean total prohibi-tion.

p If your destination can only be accessedusing some of the excluded road types,they will be used but only as much as ne-cessary. In this case a warning icon will beshown on the route parameter, and the partof the route not matching your preferencewill be displayed in a different colour onthe map.= For details, refer to Checking route para-

! Calculate Green Alternative*:

If the selected routing method is not“Green”, you can have your route comparedto the best green alternative on the screenwhen confirming the route. If this alterna-tive is much better than the selected meth-od, you can quickly switch to “Green”mode.

Setting the waiting time atwaypointsp This function is only available on AVIC-

F160.You can specify a waiting time for each stopon your route which allows the navigation sys-tem to estimate a more precise arrival time,and use time restrictions and statistical trafficinformation en route to your destination.p If you enable this feature, your navigation

system will ask you to enter the time youwill spend at a stopover every time youenter a new destination.

F160.You can set countdown timers to alert youwhen you need a break or a sleep. This featurecan be set for one driver or two alternative dri-vers.

p You can select [2 Drivers] to use the vehiclewith two drivers. The timer defaults are thesame but the timers will count down foreach driver individually.

When a break is initiated, the continuous driv-ing timer stops and it is reset to its defaultvalue, the daily driving timer also stops, andthe break time starts counting down (thebreak starts from the moment when the vehi-cle stopped). When the vehicle is in motionagain, the break timer is reset, and both driv-ing timers start counting down again.

Modifying the routeWhen navigation is already started, there areseveral ways to modify the current route. Thefollowing sections describe some of those op-tions.

Selecting a new destinationwhen a route is already setIf you already have a recommended route andyou select a new destination, the navigationsystem will ask you whether to start a newroute, add a new waypoint to the route or ap-pend the newly selected destination at the endof the current route.

! New Route:Touch this key to plan a new route to thenewly selected location. The previous desti-nation and waypoint(s) are deleted.

! Waypoint:Touch this key to add the newly selected lo-cation as a waypoint to your route. Theother destinations of the route remain in-tact.p The new waypoint is placed among des-

tinations to keep the route optimal. Todecide where a waypoint to appear, usethe “Edit Route” menu.

Setting a new starting positionfor the routeFor normal navigation, all routes are plannedfrom the current position. In order to check fu-ture routes, simulate them or see their lengthin time and distance, you can turn off the GPSreceiver. Then you can set the starting point of

the route to a different location than the cur-rent GPS position.

The maximum speed set in the vehicle pro-file is also used for this warning. This sys-tem alerts you if you exceed the presetvalue even if the legal speed limit is higher.This setting lets you decide whether youwish to receive visible and/or audible warn-ings.Adjust the slider to set the relative speedabove which the application initiates thewarning.The following alert types are available:! Audio and Visual: you receive a verbal

warning when you exceed the speedlimit with the given percentage.

! Visual: the current speed limit is shownon the map when you exceed it.

Setting the traffic informationThe recommended route is not always thesame between two points. Whenever suitabledata exists, traffic information can be takeninto account in the route calculation.

You can switch to enable or disable histori-cal traffic data and traffic patterns by touch-ing this key. This locally stored informationcan be very useful in normal circumstancesbut for example on public holidays it maybe better to turn off in order not to take intoaccount normal weekday traffic jams.

! Traffic Receiver:You can set to enable or disable the TMC re-ceiver that can receive real-time traffic infor-mation. The following items (Detour, andEvent types) are all related to the TMC func-tion and are available only if the receiver isenabled.

! Detour:This setting determines how this systemuses the received real-time traffic informa-tion in route calculation. When calculatinga new route, or when recalculation be-comes necessary based on the receivedtraffic events, this system avoids trafficevents if it makes sense.

! Offer Motorway Services:You may need a petrol station or a restau-rant during your journey. This feature dis-plays a new key on the map when you aredriving on motorways. ! Facility Types:Select the service types displayed for themotorway exists. Choose from the POI cate-gories.

! Signposts:Whenever adequate information is avail-able, lane information similar to the realones on road signs above the road is dis-played at the top of the map. You can turnthis feature on or off.

If you are approaching a motorway exit or acomplex intersection and the needed infor-mation exists, the map is replaced with a3D view of the junction. You can turn thisfeature on or let the map be displayed forthe whole route.

! Tunnel View:When entering tunnels, the surface roadsand buildings can be distracting. This fea-ture shows a generic picture of a tunnel in-stead of the map. A top-down overview ofthe tunnel and remaining distance are alsodisplayed.

! Route Progress Bar:Turn on the route progress bar to see yourroute as a straight line on the left side ofthe map. The blue arrow represents yourcurrent position and moves up as you tra-vel. Waypoints and traffic events are alsodisplayed on the line.

! Offer Congestion Detour on Highways:When you slow down while driving on a mo-torway, there is a chance that you are in atraffic jam so this system offers you a de-tour using the next exit. The messageshows you distance of the exit and the dif-ference in distance and estimated timecompared to the original route. You canchoose from one of the following options:! Touch [Dismiss] or just ignore the mes-

sage if you want to keep the originalroute.

! Touch [Preview] to see the overview ofthe original route and the detour tomake the decision. You can accept thedetour as offered or increase the by-passed motorway segment before ac-cepting.

! Turn to the suggested new direction andthe route will be automatically recalcu-lated.

! Offer Real-time Route Alternatives:Alternative routes can be suggested whendriving on normal roads. This system willselect a different turn in the upcoming in-tersection and offers you a different route

for the next section of the route. But youcannot modify the offered detour.

! Offer Parking Around Destination:Parking at the destination may not be easyin city areas. As you approach the destina-tion, this system can offer parking categoryplaces near your destination. Touch this keyto open a top-down map with the destina-tion and the offered parking places. Selectone and modify the route accordingly.

! Offer Hints Upon Detour:If you leave the recommended route andsuddenly exit the motorway, this system of-fers different alternatives near the exit likepetrol stations or restaurants. Also, if thereare avoidable parts of the original routeahead (like a tunnel, a toll road or a ferry),you will find them in the list in case youwant to bypass them with the help of thissystem.

Precautions beforeconnecting the system

CAUTION! If you decide to perform the installation

yourself, and have special training and ex-perience in the mobile electronics instal-lations, please carefully follow all of thesteps in the installation manual.

! Secure all wiring with cable clamps orelectrical tape. Do not allow any bare wir-ing to remain exposed.

! Do not directly connect the yellow lead ofthis product to the vehicle battery. If thelead is directly connected to the battery,engine vibration may eventually causethe insulation to fail at the point where

the wire passes from the passenger com-partment into the engine compartment. Ifthe yellow lead’s insulation tears as a re-sult of contact with metal parts, short-cir-cuiting can occur, resulting inconsiderable danger.

! It is extremely dangerous to allow cablesto become wound around the steering col-umn or gearstick. Be sure to install thisproduct, its cables, and wiring away insuch so that they will not obstruct or hin-der driving.

! Make sure that the cables and wires willnot interfere with or become caught inany of the vehicle’s moving parts, espe-cially the steering wheel, gearstick, hand-brake, sliding seat tracks, doors, or any ofthe vehicle’s controls.

! Do not route wires where they will be ex-posed to high temperatures. If the insula-tion heats up, wires may becomedamaged, resulting in a short circuit ormalfunction and permanent damage tothe product.

! Do not cut the GPS aerial cable to shortenit or use an extension to make it longer.Altering the aerial cable could result in ashort circuit or malfunction.

! Do not shorten any leads. If you do, theprotection circuit (fuse holder, fuse resis-tor or filter, etc.) may fail to work properly.

! Never feed power to other electronic pro-ducts by cutting the insulation of thepower supply lead of the navigation sys-tem and tapping into the lead. The currentcapacity of the lead will be exceeded,causing overheating.

lead separately from the earth of high-cur-rent products such as power amps. Do notearth more than one product togetherwith the earth from another product. Positioning technologyPositioning by GPSThe Global Positioning System (GPS) uses anetwork of satellites orbiting the Earth. Eachof the satellites, which orbit at a height of21 000 km, continually broadcasts radio sig-nals giving time and position information. Thisensures that signals from at least three can bepicked up from any open area on the earth’ssurface.The accuracy of the GPS information dependson how good the reception is. When the sig-nals are strong and reception is good, GPScan determine latitude, longitude and altitudefor accurate positioning in three dimensions.But if signal quality is poor, only two dimen-sions, latitude and longitude, can be obtainedand positioning errors are somewhat greater.

Handling large errorsPositioning errors are kept to a minimum bycombining GPS, dead reckoning and mapmatching. However, in some situations, thesefunctions may not work properly, and the errormay become bigger.

When positioning by GPS isimpossible! GPS positioning is disabled if signals can-

not be received from more than two GPSsatellites.

! In some driving conditions, signals fromGPS satellites may not reach your vehicle.In this case, it is impossible for the systemto use GPS positioning.

! If a car phone or mobile phone is used nearthe GPS aerial, GPS reception may be losttemporarily.

Route setting informationRoute search specificationsYour navigation system sets a route to yourdestination by applying certain built-in rules tothe map data. This section provides some use-ful information about how a route is set.

CAUTIONWhen a route is calculated, the route and voiceguidance for the route are automatically set.Also, for day or time traffic regulations, only infor-mation about traffic regulations applicable at thetime when the route was calculated is consid-ered. One-way streets and street closures maynot be taken into consideration. For example, if astreet is open during the morning only, but youarrive later, it would be against the traffic regula-tions so you cannot drive along the set route.When driving, please follow the actual trafficsigns. Also, the system may not know some traf-fic regulations.

! The calculated route is one example of theroute to your destination decided by the na-vigation system while taking the type ofstreets or traffic regulations into account. Itis not necessarily an optimum route. (Insome cases, you may not be able to set thestreets you want to take. If you need to takea certain street, set a waypoint on thatstreet.)

! If the destination is too far, there may be in-stances where the route cannot be set. (Ifyou want to set a long-distance route goingacross several areas, set waypoints alongthe way.)

! During voice guidance, turns and intersec-tions from the motorway are announced.However, if you pass intersections, turns,and other guidance points in rapid succes-sion, some may delay or not be announced.

! It is possible that guidance may direct youoff a motorway and then back on again.

! In some cases, the route may require youto travel in the opposite direction to yourcurrent heading. In such cases, you are in-structed to turn around, so please turnaround safely by following the actual trafficrules.

! In some cases, a route may begin on theopposite side of a railway or river from youractual current location. If this happens,drive towards your destination for a while,and try route calculation again.

! When there is a traffic jam ahead, a detourroute may not be suggested if drivingthrough the traffic jam would still be betterthan taking the detour.

! There may be instances when the startingpoint, the waypoint and the destinationpoint are not on the highlighted route.

! The number of roundabout exits displayedon the screen may differ from the actualnumber of roads.

Route highlighting! Once set, the route is highlighted in bright

colour on the map.! The immediate vicinity of your starting

point and destination may not be high-lighted, and neither will areas with particu-larly complex road layouts. Consequently,the route may appear to be cut off on thedisplay, but voice guidance will continue.

Auto reroute function! If you deviate from the set route, the system

will re-calculate the route from that pointso that you remain on track to the destina-tion.

! This function may not work under certainconditions.

FavouritesA frequently visited location (such as yourworkplace or a relative’s home) that you canregister to allow easy routing.

GPSGlobal Positioning System. A network of satel-lites that provides navigation signals for a vari-ety of purposes.

Guidance modeThe mode in which guidance is given as youdrive to your destination; the system automati-cally switches to this mode as soon as a routehas been set.

Guidance pointThese are important landmarks along yourroute, generally intersections. The next gui-dance point along your route is indicated onthe map by the flag icon.

Point Of Interest (POI)Any of a range of locations stored in the data,such as railway stations, shops, restaurants,and amusement parks.

RDS-TMCA communication system for informing driversof the latest traffic information using FM multi-plex broadcast. Information such as trafficjams or accidents can be checked on the dis-play.

Route settingThe process of determining the ideal route to aspecific location; route setting is done auto-

matically by the system when you specify adestination.

Set routeThe route marked out by the system to yourdestination. It is highlighted in bright colouron the map.

Track logYour navigation system logs routes that you al-ready passed through if the track logger is ac-tivated. This recorded route is called a “tracklog”. It is handy when you want to check aroute travelled or if returning along a complexroute.

Voice guidanceThe giving of directions by navigation voicewhile in guidance.

WaypointA location that you choose to visit before yourdestination; a journey can be built up frommultiple waypoints and the destination.
