Linked In basics LinkedIn is the biggest global online business network (347 MIO users, 84MIO in EU) (Q4-2014)

LinkedIn is not Facebook (= social networking with friends and family)

LinkedIn shows us how we are connected with our prospects, customers and other

stakeholders

Biggest mistake = use it as a passive sign board and not as a pro-active tool

So, it is important that H.Essers employs this network consistently

Biggest challenges:

- Build up network, as individual and as company

- Contribute to a mutual sales

- Contribute to our company’s corporate identity

Tips & tricks: your profile Check all your settings Disable broadcasting of profile changes (Account settings) Profile, don’t sell here Professional picture Make a strong headline (add something personal) Summary:

- 1.000 charachters - No jargon - Right key words

- 4 blocks: company – you professionally – you personally – rich media

Experience:- 2.000 charachters - Jargon yes - Right key words

Organisations: if you are member - Expertise: if you have a function in an organisation Rich media: inlcude presentations, movies, pictures. Websites: choose ‘other’ to give a name

Tips & tricks: your 1st degree connections

Use strict criteria

Extend your network & extend H.Essers’ network

Include former & current colleagues, new networking contacts, school

mates, university & training friends, teachers, friends, neighbours, …

1 simple rule for connecting:

> Connect online if you are connected offline

For a new contact, note how you met (Relationship)

Don’t do ‘Cold inviting’: 8 ignores = dismissal

4. Become member of groups were your targets & referals are

5. Adapt your name for ‘who’s viewed this profile’
