TRANSCRIPT
Thank you to all of the parents who attended the EYFS and KS1 Phonics workshop. If you didn’t get
chance to attend we will be repeating the workshop on Monday at 2.45pm. I’d also like to say a big well
done to the children who represented Burton Albion at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, last Saturday. Henry
Chadwick beat Caludon Castle School from Coventry 3-1 at half time. Not many people can say that
they’ve played a football match in front of over 17,000 people. The Staffordshire Museum Service will
be visiting Year 5 and 6 on Tuesday to start an exciting design and writing project. A display will be
created on a bus which will travel round to other rural schools.

ACTIVE KIDS 2016
We are collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers again this
year. Vouchers are available in store from 27th January—
3rd May 2016. Please ask your friends and families to collect
the vouchers for our school — there is a box by the office for
the children to place the vouchers. This is an easy way to
“buy” sports and cooking equipment for the children to use in
school.
BURTON ALBION FC
Our visits to the Pirelli Stadium and Ricoh Arena
WHAT THE CHILDREN THOUGHT OF THEIR EXPERIENCE!
My Day at Burton Albion
On Saturday 19th December Loz, Sam,
Millie, Ellie and I went to Burton Albion
to watch a match and to take penalties
at half time.
Burton 3—Doncaster 3
We all had a great time.
It was an amazing opportunity to go to the Burton
football pitch to take two shots in the middle of a
football match at half time. I also scored two
goals!!.
On the 19th December six of us went to Burton Albion to watch
them play against Doncaster because of Ben (our teacher from
Burton) who taught us about fitness and health. And also Rykneld
School went, who we had a penalty shoot out with, and we won! As
we won the penalty shoot out, we now get to go to Coventry on 16th
January 2016!
PENALTY SHOOT OUT AT
BURTON ALBION
The penalty shoot out and the waving
flags were my favourite part of going
to Burton Albion . I really enjoyed the
penalty shoot out and because I scored
both my goals and we won the shoot
out and now we get to go to
Coventry. (I’ve been there
already and it is MASSIVE!). The
Coventry Stadium actually has
seats and it is much, much
BIGGER..
Our day was amazing. We went to Burton
Albion v Doncaster Rovers. When we got
there we were shown where we were
standing to watch the game. Before the
match started we watched the Burton
Albion dance group perform. After that
Ellie, Loz, Alfie, Loch and Same got to wave
flags on the pitch. We watched the first
half then at half time we took
penalties against
another school. Loz went in
goal for our school. At the end
Doncaster 3—Burton Albion 3.
I had a great day.

Candlemas Service 10.45am Sunday, 31st January at Hamstall Church
Candlemas is the festival that comes right at the end of the traditional Christian seasons of
Christmas and Epiphany. We take one last look at the stories of Jesus' childhood - this time it is the story of
when Mary and Joseph took the baby Jesus to the Temple. Hymns, readings and a
procession with candles make this a particularly beautiful and memorable Holy Communion service.
Please note the 10.45am start to our Candlemas Service to make it easier for people to come along.
