A healthier experience.Better outcome. 3M Science.Patients undergoing an orthodontic treatment have a higher risk of developing white spots, cavities, gingivitis and having bad breath.

Adding key 3M products to protect patients’ teeth and oral health throughout the treatment can help them have a healthier, happier experience and more satisfying results.

3M Science. Applied to beautiful, confident smiles emerging everywhere.

3M™ Vanish™ XT Extended Contact Varnish

Patients can find it difficult to clean thoroughly around orthodontic brackets, and over time it can lead to white spot lesions. Vanish XT varnish helps build a barrier against demineralization and acid erosion to protect their smile during the orthodontic treatment.

Vanish XT Extended Contact Varnish: Orthodontic Application

1. Clean the tooth surface.

8. Mix for 15 seconds (2.5 min. working time).

2. Rinse with water.

9. Apply thin layer to tooth surface.

3. Remove excess, pooled water.

6. Remove excess, pooled water.

10. Light cure.

4. Etch the tooth enamel.

11. Wipe the coating with a moist cotton applicator.

5. Rinse with water.

7. Dispense onto mixing pad.

Protect at-risk enamel surfaces around the brackets.

White spot lesions

Key Advantages• Site-specific, light-cured protective

coating that can be applied around orthodontic brackets to prevent demineralization and acid erosion

• Delivers fluoride, calcium and phosphate to help protect teeth from white spot lesions in those tough-to-clean areas around the brackets

• Remains on the teeth for 6 months or longer

• Vanish XT varnish can be recharged by brushing daily with 3M™ Clinpro™ 5000 1.1% Sodium Fluoride Anti-Cavity Toothpaste

3M™ Vanish™ XT Extended Contact Varnish helps protect against white spot lesions and disappointment when braces come off.

3M™ Vanish™ White Varnish with Tri-Calcium Phosphate

Help keep their teeth healthy during their orthodontic treatment.

Orthodontic patients may find it difficult to clean around brackets as thoroughly as needed, which can leave them more vulnerable to problems. Fortunately, 3M has a simple solution: Vanish White Varnish with Tri-Calcium Phosphate (TCP). TCP is a proprietary formula that contains fluoride, calcium and phosphate—components naturally found in saliva. The Vanish white varnish extended release formula shows continual fluoride release through 24 hours. The varnish remains fluid longer and continues to flow across tooth surfaces, penetrating hard-to-reach places, including interproximal areas and around brackets.

The #1-selling fluoride varnish in the U.S.

Simply apply 3M™ Vanish™ 5% Sodium Fluoride White Varnish evenly in a thin layer over treatment area(s) with sweeping, horizontal brush strokes. No suction required.

Brushes on in seconds

Key Advantages• Contains 22,600 ppm of fluoride

• Takes just seconds to apply and goes on white so it’s virtually invisible

• Can be applied if plaque is present

• No need to dry teeth prior to application

• Patients can eat and drink following application

• Indicated for treatment of sensitivity

• Sweetened with Xylitol

• Cherry, Melon and Mint flavors

3M™ Clinpro™ 5000 1.1% Sodium Fluoride Anti-Cavity Toothpaste

Patients with braces are at a higher risk for caries because food gets trapped around brackets. As a proactive measure, you can help to strengthen and repair enamel, and even reverse white spot lesions—by prescribing clinically proven, prescription-strength Clinpro 5000 fluoride toothpaste. It contains functionalized tri-calcium phosphate (fTCP) … available exclusively from 3M.

f TCP ingredient: A source of calcium and phosphate.Clinpro 5000 toothpaste is an advanced formula containing functionalized tri-calcium phosphate (f TCP) that is available exclusively from 3M. It contains fluoride as well as calcium and phosphate, components naturally found in saliva. The formulation successfully integrates these ingredients in a way that enhances their performance, allowing the tooth to naturally absorb these components so remineralization can occur.

During manufacturing, a protective barrier forms around the calcium, allowing it to coexist with the fluoride ions. During brushing, saliva breaks the barrier down, making the calcium, phosphate and fluoride readily available to the tooth.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION• Use once daily in place of conventional toothpaste unless

instructed otherwise by a physician or dentist. • Apply a thin ribbon or pea-sized amount of Clinpro 5000

Anti-Cavity Toothpaste using a soft-bristled toothbrush and brush teeth for at least two minutes.

CONTRAINDICATIONS Do not use in children under 6 years of age unless recommended by a dentist or physician.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS • Do not swallow. • Keep out of reach of children under 6 years of age. • Repeated ingestion of high levels of fluoride may cause dental fluorosis.

ADVERSE REACTIONSAllergic reactions and other idiosyncrasies have been rarely reported.

To report SUSPECTED ADVERSE REACTIONS, contact 3M ESPE Dental Products Division at 1-800-634-2249 or www.3MESPE.com, or FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or www.fda.gov/medwatch.

USE IN SPECIFIC POPULATIONS Pregnancy Prescribing physicians and dentists should consider total fluoride exposure (dental care plus food, water and other sources) when prescribing the product for use in pregnant women or women who may become pregnant.

Nursing Mothers Prescribing physicians and dentists should consider total fluoride exposure (dental care plus food, water and other sources) when prescribing the product for use in women who are nursing.

Pediatric Use The primary adverse effects of fluoride are fluorosis of dental enamel and of the skeleton; these effects occur at exposures below those associated with other adverse health effects. The population most at risk for dental fluorosis is children during the period of tooth formation, i.e. from birth to 8 years of age. For this population, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) established Fluoride Upper Limits of intake based on the risk of dental fluorosis. In populations with permanent dentition, skeletal fluorosis is the greatest risk from excessive fluoride. For this population the Institute of Medicine established Fluoride Upper Limits based on the risk of skeletal fluorosis.1

Population IOM Fluoride Upper LimitInfants 0-6 months old 0.7mg/dayInfants 7-12 months old 0.9mg/day Children 1-3 years old 1.3mg/dayChildren 4-8 years old 2.2mg/dayChildren > 8 years old 10mg/dayPrescribing physicians and dentists should consider total fluoride exposure (dental care plus food, water and other sources) when prescribing the product for use in children.

Geriatric Use No studies of Clinpro 5000 Anti-Cavity Toothpaste have been conducted to determine whether subjects aged 65 and over respond differently from younger subjects.
