President’s Message Sue Hoecker

Vice President’s Message Mary Dawn Ditty

Thinking About New Year Quilting Resolution You are an awesome guild! You have attended meetings and

workshops, made a raffle quilt, sold tickets, donated handmade

quilted items, donated many items for baskets, etc. You always

seem to answer the “call.” That is why we will be entering next

year with a budget that can fund our programs!

It’s never too early to plan, SO next year I want to resolve

to get to know more of you. There are a lot of quilters out

there that I want to become better acquainted with. I plan to

start at the luncheon in December. It’s a great way to get to

know each other in an informal setting. I also plan to meet

more members when attending events and workshops. These

fun days are where I can connect with others and share skills

and a sense of wonder when I have the opportunity to figure

out a new technique, short-cut, or trick. Please, join Helping

Hands as we travel on our quilting journey. In the January

newsletter, there will be info and a synopsis of our 2017

programs. As soon as the programs are finalized, it will also be

available on the website.

I am asking that the majority of you will look over these

events and choose one or two workshops to attend. There will

be a combination of member-led, teacher-led, Sit N Sew, and

projects for worthy causes. Whatever your skill level, you can

learn something. If these events are well-attended, we can

offer more topics in 2018 and our 2017 will be a success!

If you haven’t paid your dues, your name will be dropped and all

non-members will be required to pay a $5 entry fee per person,

per meeting. Also, a guest fee of $5 was instituted. If the guest

decides to join the quilt guild as a member, they will receive a $5

credit towards their membership dues. The $5 collected will

help offset the guild’s costs. This is a ruling from our Board…it’s

just unfair for those who haven’t paid to keep receiving our

newsletter, and enjoy benefits of members.

Thank you for all your cards and well wishes during my back-

surgery recuperation. Everything went well and I’m now starting

to get out and do small events. I am blessed to enjoy your

friendship and commitment to Helping Hands. Together, we will

enjoy another year of growth and skill building in our quilting

efforts. Sue Hoecker

was out due to surgery and for her hard work and dedication to the

The board discussed the possibility of moving our Monday night

Membership: A reminder to all members and non-members, all dues are required to be paid in full by January 1st of each year as stated in

our by-laws. Shirley Smith made a motion that as of January 1, 2017 if you have not paid your dues you will be removed from the

membership roster and all non-members will be required to pay a $5 entry fee per person, per meeting. An amendment was added: If the

guest decides to join the quilt guild as a member, they will receive a $5 credit towards their membership dues. The $5 collected will help

offset the guilds costs. The motion, with amendment, was approved unanimously by the board members.

The December 14th Holiday Luncheon tickets will be available at the November guild meeting. An email reminder will be sent out to all

members. All board members were encouraged to invite other members to the luncheon who have not decided to attend yet. The drawing for

the raffle quilt winner will be conducted at the luncheon. Door prizes will be given away.

It has been determined that corrections, additions and revisions are needed to our by-laws. A committee including the following members will

review and make recommendations: Mary Dawn Ditty, Ellie Brocklehurst, Kate Ruper, Ellen Malenfant, and Joyce Sinclair.

Fundraising was discussed. Barbara Austin has volunteered to continue to head up the raffle quilt ticket sales for 2017 but requests

additional help from our guild members. Shirley Smith will continue the 50/50 and Ellen Malenfant will continue the Fon’s and Porter magazine

fundraiser for a few more months.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:38 pm.

The next board meeting is scheduled for December 7, 2016.

Respectfully submitted,Mary Kokoszka
