Helping families when they have a sick child is one way we can help better the world in which we live, but we can’t do it alone. We rely on our donors, volunteers, staff and friends to support our mission. HELPING ANY WAY WE CAN Open 365 days a year since 1980, Ronald McDonald House Charities ® of Richmond has never closed its doors, giving families from 10 community hospitals a place to rest their heads as well as find encouragement and strength. In return, all we ask for is a medical referral and a contribution of $15 per day. However, a family will never be turned away if they cannot afford a donation. rmhcRichmond @ RMHCRichmond YOU MAKE THE DIFFERENCE While no family is turned away, only 10% of families are able to pay for their stay in full. On average, a family pays $2.27 a night. A mere $15 donation will help cover the cost of a family’s one-night stay. You can also volunteer your time by preparing meals for families, helping with a special project, or creating your own activity for families. IT’S MORE THAN A HOUSEIt’s important that families know there is a network

of people working to bring them relief however

possible. That’s why the Richmond chapter of

Ronald McDonald House Charities also provides

support to families in the hospital.

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms

For families of the most critical patients, there

are Ronald McDonald Family Room® programs at

Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU and Bon

Secours St. Mary’s Hospital. These rooms are just

steps away from the pediatric or intensive care

units and provide a place for families to rest close

to their children.

Happy Wheels Program

Happy Wheels is a free-of-charge, hospitality cart

fully stocked with snacks, drinks, toiletries, toys

and other small comforts that travels around the

hospital hallways, visiting families and patients on

the pediatric floors.

Sibling CenterThere is a Sibling Center in the Children’s Pavilion

at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. It’s a

place where brothers and sisters can go to receive

their own kind of special attention, and play with

activity books, puzzles and toys, while their families

are in appointments or receiving treatment.

We give children what they need the most — their families.

OUR HOME ON MONUMENT AVENUERonald McDonald House Charities® of Richmond

hosts up to nine families a night, keeping them close

while their children receive the medical care they

need. We provide them with a private bedroom, hot

showers, lunch at the hospital, dinner, transportation,

laundry facilities and even a playroom. But most

importantly, we provide a support system.
