  • What if trash or recycling was missed? Contact us at (608)364-2929 or you can drop it off to the Recycling Drop Off Center on Saturdays. What if I have extra trash/recycling? Keep your items for the following week, bring items to the Recycling Drop Off Center, contact the Department of Public Works for dumpster rental information, or take to Janesville Landfill, 525 Black Bridge Road, Janesville, WI 53545.

    Who will maintain my carts? Residents are responsible for regular periodic cleaning and disinfecting along with proper storage. The Department of Public Works is responsible for repairs including, but not limited to, wheels, axles, lids, hinge pins, and replacement of carts. What if my cart is lost, stolen or vandalized? Contact the non-emergency police number at (608) 757-2244 to file a report then contact the Department of Public Works at (608) 364-2929.

    Do I take carts with me if I move? No, the carts are identified by a unique ID tag and are the property of the City of Beloit. The carts must remain at the property/address to which they are assigned.

    When and how are Christmas trees disposed? Christmas trees can be placed curbside by 6am on your regular scheduled collection day January 4-15, 2021. Trees must be free of all stands, bags, lights, garland, tinsel, ornaments, etc.

    Christmas trees are also accepted at the Recycling Drop Off Center beginning January 9, 2021.

    How do I dispose of holiday wreaths and garland? Dispose in your trash cart on your regular scheduled collection day.

    How do I dispose of paint? Latex paint — add oil dry or kitty litter to dry out the paint then place in your trash cart.

    Oil-based paint — can be taken to one of the Household Hazardous Clean Sweep locations. Please call Rock County Land Conservation for the nearest collection location and date (608) 754-6617.

    SOLID WASTE FEES $16/month reflected on your utility bill. Property owner may request an additional cart for an additional fee of $16/month. Early Collection $125 billed to the property owner when items are placed curbside before 12pm the day prior to collection day. Additional fees for items in violation will apply. Monthly Yard Waste Curbside Collection $10 for a sheet of 5 stickers. Available for purchase at Department of Public Works, Walgreens, ACE Hardware, Woodman's, City Hall Clerk-Treasurer, and Grinnell Hall. Time: must be set out by 6am Collection takes place on your regular trash day on the following dates: April 5—8 and April 12—15 August 9—12 May 10—13 September 13—16 June 14—17 October 11—14 July 12—15

    Brush and shrubbery must be bundled or tied. Paper yard waste bags, trash containers 39 gallons or

    less weighing less than 60lbs. Plastic bags are not permitted.

    Yard waste must be clean and litter free. Yard waste sticker must be attached to each bundle or

    container then placed at least 3ft away from your regular trash.

    Free Fall Curbside Yard Waste Collection Dates: November 1-18 Free collection only includes bagged leaves, grass

    clippings and garden debris. All other items require a yard waste sticker.

    Follow the above monthly Curbside Collection information for all other yard waste.

    Leaf Vacuum Subscription Service Dates: November 1–19

    $125 annual fee. The City will vacuum your leaves multiple times during the service period. A schedule will be provided to the subscribers. All leaves must be raked or blown to the terrace. Leaves shouldn’t be contained in cans or bags.

    The City of Beloit is not responsible for the timeliness in which leaves fall from the trees or weather related cancellation of the Leaf Vacuum service. No refunds will be issued. This service is only available in the fall.

    Recycling Center Drop Off Hours: Saturdays 9am - 12pm Closed: Saturday, January 2, April 3, July 3, November 27, December 25. Location: 2351 Springbrook Court. Located (west side) in the back of the main Public Works building. Must be pre-scheduled and pre-paid. Items can then be placed curbside anytime the Tuesday prior after 12 pm. Bulky Items not accepted curbside: Electronics/TVs Construction Material Fluorescent Bulbs Waste Oil/Filters Antifreeze Tires Automotive Parts/Batteries FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What are collection times? Hours: 6am — 4pm Garbage carts (black lid) are collected on a weekly basis. Recycling carts (gray lid) are collected on a bi-weekly basis. All trash and recyclables must be in the carts provided by

    the City of Beloit. Carts are not allowed to be set out earlier than 12pm the

    day prior of your scheduled collection day and must be removed no later than 7am the day following. The owner and/or occupant is responsible for compliance.

    Trash and recycling carts are the property of the City of Beloit. No markings are permitted on the carts.

    Cart lid openings must be placed facing the street. Cart lids must be substantially closed with no trash/

    recycling sticking out, placed on the side of cart, or placed on the top of the lid.

  • Place your trash and/or recycling carts at the curb by 6 a.m. on your collection day.

    What Day Is Your Recycle Pick Up? Recycling is picked up every other week. The calendar shows weeks that alternate between being solid white or having striped marks through it. Refer to the map to locate your property to see if it has stripes through it. If it does, then the weeks on the calendar with stripes are your recycle weeks.

    If there are NO striped marks over your property, then the weeks on the calendar that are white are your recycle weeks. You may also use www.beloitsolidwaste.com to find your recycle pick up week.
