    Important Concepts

    Takt time

It refers to the rate of production of thecompany based on customer demand.

    Pitch:

Refers to the number of pieces per unit timebased on takt time

    Example

    8

    Products A01 B02 C03 D04 TOTAL

    Daily Requirement 300 240 180 60 780

    Quantity Per Pack 15 15 15 15 60

    # of kanbans 20 16 12 4 52

    Production time: 8hrs x 60 min = 480 min2 breakfast 15 min= -30 minRest 10 min= -10 min

    ---------------440 min

    440 min x 60 x2 = 52,800 seconds

    9/14

    9

    Takt time= 52.800 seconds / 780 units =67.6 seconds

    Pitch= 67.6 sec. x 15 units = 1,014 seconds or 16.9 min.

    So:

The leveling of the production is to be achieved as follows:

    Product Quantity

    A01 20

    B02 16

    C03 12

    D04 4
