Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face,And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.
INVOCATION (ALL)God, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the earth was formed, long before there were people on this planet, you were fashioning life in its myriad forms. Out of the billions of years you have been creating, our lives
have come to this moment of meeting. We stand in awe before you, amazed to discover that you care about us, tiny blips on the screen of eternity. O God, we want our lives to count for something. Show us how to fit into your plans. Amen.
CALL TO CONFESSION (PASTOR)The word of God comes to us through Moses: ”You shall be holy, for I, your God, am holy.” But we have taken little delight in holiness. We scoff at pretensions of saintliness, preferring the company of sinners. Wickedness seems more attractive than righteousness, not only for our entertainment but also to boost our success in the marketplace. Do we want to change our accommodations to today’s world?
(Moment of Silent Prayer)PRAYER OF CONFESSION (ALL)O God, we have missed your signs and wonders because we are so busy creating our own. Those around us who pretend to be your prophets offer little to which we aspire. Yet, we would pray with the psalmist, “Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, so we may rejoice and be glad all our days.” Where is the meaning we have missed in all our striving? Does Jesus hold the key when he says, “Love God with all your being,” and “Love your neighbor as yourself”? O God, we long to make sense out of life. Help us follow your way. Amen.

It takes courage to question the ways things are, especially when present arrangements are to our benefit. We who are privileged seldom notice those who suffer and are shamefully mistreated. Yet we cannot ignore them. We can only suppress knowledge of the evil around us for a little while. God is even now nudging us gently, caring tenderly for us amid our confusion and inner turmoil. The favor of God is upon us, entrusting us with the gospel for our own lives and for the world. Receive forgiveness and blessing as good news.

We’re happy this morning to welcome back Greg Kriebel and Julianna Baum. Greg is a long term member of Emmanuel EC Church, Hatfield. He started playing trumpet in 4th grade at E.B.L. Elementary School and was a member of the first North Penn Marching Knights to perform in competition. He plays trumpet in the Montgomery County Concert Band for stress relief from his work as a Product Manager at UGSI Chemical Feed, Inc. in North Wales, PA. He resides
in Hatfield Township with his wife, Linda; they have been married for almost 40 wonderful years.Julianna was raised and currently resides in Telford. She attends Limerick Chapel, and has been going there since she was just two years old. She has been playing trumpet for close to twenty years. After graduating from Delaware Valley University in 2017, she joined the Montgomery County Concert Band, which is where she met Greg. She says, “thank you for this opportunity to join in worship with you.”The Flowers and Bulletins are given today by Andrea Smith in honor of her son Dan’s birthday.The Live Stream Sponsorship for October is given by Jerry and Diane Yarbrough in memory of their parents.We have many openings for sponsoring Flowers and Bulletins.
