CHAPEL

We regularly gather our diverse community for Chapel, where we experience our unity in Christ. Through exposure to various styles of worship and a broad array of voices from different contexts, we learn to appreciate variety within the Christian community. In particular, we benefit from listening to the broad, collective voice of the global church.

Our campus community gets together for Chapel three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30-11:20 a.m. in Murchison Gym.

WORSHIP

Chapel brings the community together for worship. Through exposure to different styles of worship, we learn to appreciate various forms and traditions of music and expression.

COMMUNITY

Besides attending Chapel, students find a myriad of opportunities to learn about and grow in their faith, especially through small groups such as Capax Dei. Faculty, staff and Westmont community members lead these intimate Bible studies.

CHURCH CONNECTIONS

Westmont encourages students to participate in a local church. Some congregations send buses, shuttles and vans to the campus on Sunday morning to help students get to services. Santa Barbara features a rich and vibrant Christian community.

PRAYER CHAPEL

The Nancy Voskuyl Prayer Chapel provides a place to spend time with God and to pray and meditate quietly away from noise and distractions.

Greater challenge. Bolder faith. Come experience the Westmont community, where we believe in a well-informed and well-tested Christian faith. Your relationship with Christ creates the foundation for your college experience—and for the rest of your life. Your friends, your professors and the community on campus will encourage you to grow spiritually as you urge each other to lead and serve in all spheres of society.

At Westmont, a four-year residential college, a majority of students live on campus in one of six residence halls.

Westmont’s strong, caring, residential community includes resident directors (full-time staff), resident assistants (student leaders living in each section) and spiritual formation counselors (students with a passion to provide spiritual support). The culture encourages students to grow in their faith, helping them form enduring friendships, contribute to society, and find ways to serve others.

As a first-year student, you can choose between a traditional residence hall with long hallways (Page or Emerson Hall) or one with suites (Clark Hall). In your succeeding years, other options become available, including apartments off campus. Each residence hall features multiple kitchens, lounges and communal spaces hosting a variety of activities.
