Executive Director Corner

Greetings and Happy New Year! I hope that you

found yourself surrounded by those you love over the holiday season. I would like to thank everyone who donated their time, talent or treasure over these past months. Even if you just stopped by our campus to participate in an activity or visit with a loved one, your presence made a difference and brightened someone’s day!

The new year is a great time to recommit to healthy habits and challenge ourselves to set the bar even higher. In that spirit, I would like to take a moment to recommit to you, our family members, residents, and

friends, on behalf of our team. We promise that we will keep searching for new ways to enrich the lives of those we serve and make a positive impact on the community we call home. We’re excited for everything 2019 has in store, and can’t wait to make twelve more months of memories we can cherish for years to come. It is truly our pleasure to serve the community. If you have any suggestions regarding how we can continue to improve, or if you would like to volunteer at our community, please do not hesitate to let us know. Thank you again for your support!Yours in Service,Katrina Keck Executive Director

Did You Know...?Long-term parking at both entrances to Aspen Place is prohibited. When cars are parked in this area it keeps our emergency vehicles and service vehicles from being able to have access to the entrance for resident retrieval. Please use the parking lot for long-term parking when visiting family and friends.

The Private Dining Rooms can be reserved for special events.

Happy Hour is weekly on Fridays at 3:00pm.

Volunteers are always welcome at Aspen Place.

Live a DreamClarence G., a long-time dairy farmer and Aspen Place resident, longed to see the new technology that is running the Narwold Dairy Farm in Batesville, Indiana. Clarence was able to witness this with his nephew John. Both men could not believe the new technology being used to milk the cows and process the milk. Clarence stated, “This newfangled technology would have saved me a lot of time back when I was milking 50 cows by hand, twice a day!” Thank you to the Narwold family for making Clarence’s wish come true.

Volunteer News Aspen Place thanks all of the wonderful individuals who helped us to celebrate the holidays through song and spirit: North Decatur Grade School, South Decatur Middle School, Greensburg High School Show Choir, The Songbirds, The Dave McNeeley Quartet, Westport Baptist Church, Pat Hicks and the Skylarks, Decatur County VFW, and anyone else who stopped by to sing and visit with the residents. We appreciate you!

Smile of the MonthLillian L. has such a beautiful smile and enjoys sharing it with those around her. Pair that with her signature red hair and you cannot miss her as you walk through the halls. Lillian enjoys visits from her family and looking at the beautiful flowers outside.

Sunday Brunch In January Aspen Place had a very special guest for brunch – Santa! He was present to pass out crafts that the residents had spent months making, to give candy canes, and to take photos with residents and their families. It was a day to be remembered.

Featured ResidentHelen W. celebrated her 99th birthday with an open house that brought nearly 150 people into the campus to wish her well. Helen still has balloons in her room from this memorable day. Wishing you a very happy 99th birthday, Helen!

Family NightResidents at Aspen Place celebrated New Years Eve in the afternoon of the 31st with a countdown, balloon and confetti drop, singing Auld Lang Syne, and a special champagne toast by our Executive Director, Katrina Keck. Families were invited and many were there to celebrate with their loved ones. A fun time was had by all and we look forward to all that 2019 will bring.

During a time in life where many may feel stressed or lonely, coming together to play games, dress up, and share a show-stopping meal has a way of sparking conversations, laughter, and friendships. Th is year we’ll be celebrating what makes America awesome by partying across the USA – starting with Mardi Gras in New Orleans! Th ese programs are just the tip of the

iceberg; visitors to our campus will fi nd our residents exercising, besting one another in trivia, learning new skills, and even listening to live music, depending on the day! Contact our Executive Director to learn more!

Heart health depends in large part on what we put in our bodies, which goes far beyond the food we eat. Th roughout our lives, we gather happy moments, make cherished connections and thrive in the company of others. In doing so, we are caring for our hearts.
