The University of Chicago Medicine Center for Care and Discovery, a 1.2 million-square-foot facility, provides a high-technology facility that combines the optimal setting for patient care and collaborative clinical research with the flexibility to adapt to and drive forward rapid changes sweeping through medicine.

Our focus on quality and coordination brought significant benefits to the client. Our Interdisciplinary Document Coordination (IDC) review of the construction documents identified approximately 2,000 issues prior to the start of construction, resulting in an estimated net savings of $2,000,000 for the project. Our use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) has proven to be a key ingredient in the project’s success, allowing close collaboration in the field between Gilbane, subcontractors, and the design team to ensure efficient and functional layouts.
