The Health Provider Portal permits General Practitioners to access The Viewer. The Viewer allows General Practitioners access to summary details of patient’s treatment, investigations and care at any Queensland Health facility statewide. What’s new for General Practitioners? This update covers the following enhancements: Joint enhancement – SurgiNet changes for EDS & The Viewer Winscribe Text integration update Healthcare Facility details

Joint enhancement – SurgiNet changes for EDS & The Viewer There was a possible risk identified with the display of SurgiNet theatre episodes and surgical procedures information in EDS and The Viewer. When ‘planned’ and ‘actual’ procedures are different the information in EDS and The Viewer could be misleading, unless SurgiNet is updated at the completion of the theatre episode. To alleviate patient safety concerns, EDS and The Viewer will now display the time and place a surgical procedure took place, with no additional details listed.

Note: this will not impact all digital hospitals, some hospitals already have processes in place for staff to update SurgiNet with ‘actual’ procedures at completion.

EDS enhancements EDS Mandatory Fields – Stage 1 – Configuration To ensure the delivery of essential post-discharge information for patient care, it was proposed to make the following four (4) existing fields mandatory to complete in EDS. Discharge Medications Recommendations to GPs Adverse Reactions Alerts

Following a month internal engagement period, the following Hospital and Health Services confirmed their decision to opt-in or opt-out of enabling the four fields.

Note: Darling Downs are yet to confirm decision.

Go-Live is forecast for October. All communication and training materials will be circulated before the initiative is implemented.

The Viewer enhancements

Healthcare Facility details The Viewer currently displays under the ‘Facility’ heading location that issued the Unit Record Number (URN). This is generally the facility where the patient received a healthcare service (but not always). For example: Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) issue a single URN that is used for all healthcare facilities. To recity the issue the following four (4) tabs within The Viewer will now display the actual treating healthcare facility details under ‘Facility’ e.g. If a patient received a treatment at Robina Hospital, this will display rather than GCHHS, refer to example below.

1. Medication tab

2. Medical imaging tab

3. Procedures tab

4. Event Summaries tab
