Reactions 1148 - 21 Apr 2007 Health Canada warns of adulterated weight loss product Health Canada has issued a Foreign Product Alert warning that Lexscl Fat Rapid Loss capsules were found to be adulterated with sibutramine, levothyroxine sodium and liothyronine. The agency was alerted to the problem by the Hong Kong Department of Health, which detected sibutramine and the thyroid hormones in the weight loss product. Consumers using the adulterated product are at risk for serious adverse effects including hypertension, arrhythmias, chest pain and hyperthyroidism. Health Canada advises consumers not to use this product, and to consult a healthcare professional if they are using the product and have concerns about their health. Health Canada.
